ICFAI univ : MS in Banking...??? - 26-08-2005, 05:19 PM

I am presently working in an IT company which is into product development for the banking and financial sector (primarily banking). My job revolves more on the functional side...the anlayst kind of role. Can some1 help me in deciding whether ICFAI's distance learning MS in Banking would be of some help...Do such programs really have any impact on the resume..appraisals and all ? Content wise, I dont think i'll benefit much from the program cos i already know most of the curriculum (I've had some formal trng in Banking)

Still, wd like to do a program like this...any comments on the course ?

PS 1.: If some1 knows of any other part time course in banking...do let me know

PS 2: the course fee for the 2 yr MS(Banking) program is 25k....and they have some mandatory membership for some society for which the fee is 1300 pa...lifetime membership is mandatory ::wtf::

PS 3: ICFAI also has an MBA in banking...though MS in banking is supposed to be the more into-the-depth kind of thing...which 1 do u advise ? I think there are better part time MBAs in the offering ( and while we are at it, wd some1 tell me as to which is the best part time MBA in india )

regards

anshuk

Hi Anshu,

If u r serious for Banking sector u can go ahead with MS(Banking) course, but all these ICFAi courses are linked with their main course CFA, so it wud be harcore finance. As far as i understand u may not be having core understanding of Finance so passing the course wud be tough.

I m passout of ICFAI B-School, Hyderbad and have done CFA and MS(Banking) both so i know it very well.

Cheers,
Ravi Shanker

Prime Numbers are what is left when you have taken all the patterns away. I think prime Numbers are like life. They are very logical but you could never work out the rules, even if you spent all your time thinking about them.
