Help in writing - Resignation Letter

hello forumites...

I am planning to leave my current job as i need to relocate from Mumbai to Coimbatore. Also I am planning to persue my education further which is possible if i am in mumbai. This is my first job so i dont have any knowledge on how to write Resignation letter, Please help me out atleast in making a general format as how to write it and than I will fill the details in the same based on my designation, job etc.

P.S: I made a search in the forum, I dint got anythread on the same and thats why i opened a new thread... hope mods dont mind and lock it

Please help me guys as there are many who are well experienced and know how to write it. Also 1 thing i have to mail the same..... So what should the subject and format.

well nihit,


state the subject line as " end of association"

mention in the letter thst " u will be unable to offer ur service to the esteemed organisation" take the tone...as if you want to "inform them".

Thank them for opportunity given and help they provided when u were here.

Ya , i think the ppl who already have converts ( SIIB, SIBM, SCMHRD, IBS ) will be busy framing their letters.

But the first thing that u need to write before the resignation letter is letting them know verbally.
After that everything is just a formality.

My PM is already after me, beta kab chod ke jaa raha hai , jaldi bol mujhe ..

I've resigned twice

Both times blunt, to the point and no singing praises of how wonderful it has been to work for this esteemed organization. First time I cited personal reasons and the second time "further studies to pursue a career in management"

Keep the resig letter short and save all ur gassing skills for the farewell email
