MICA presents MICANVAS 2007 - 15-10-2007, 12:38 AM

The Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) will be conducting it's annual Brand Management fest, MICANVAS this year from the 25th to the 28th of October in its campus in Shela.

Organizers of the event say that this year MICANVAS is bigger and better than ever. For the first time, MICANVAS is a 4-day event, and is host to an exclusive International Day - the first of it's kind in any BSchool campus across India.

The International Day, called Colloquium, will feature international participation as well as a panel discussion by eminent personalities - Santosh Desai (CEO, Future Brands), Hemant Sachdev (Marketing Director, Bharti Enterprises), Prof Shiv Vishwanath (Social Scientist), Padma Shree Shovana Narayanan (Renowned Kathak Performer) and will be moderated by the institute's director - Professor Atul Tandan, affectionately called PAT by students and colleagues.

With a budget of 45 lakhs, MICANVAS this year plays host to 50 colleges - including undergraduates and six foreign universities. The events range from formal to semi-formal and informal. The formal events include some of MICANVAS' signature events - like the EDC Cerebrus (A Business Plan competition) and Nash It Out (Practical use of the Game Theory!), as well as new sponsored events like Paras Mindbenders (Marketing idea for an entirely new Paras product), SBI Bankonus (an idea to help SBI expand) and USP-Age Brand-It! (Taking a failed Indian brand and reworking the marketing strategy), among others.

The semiformal events include some of the most renowned competitions across B-School campuses - including the Apprentice-like Last Manager Standing, Ad-dict, Sell Hell, and Cinema Paradiso, a film appreciation workshop. The informal events consist of quizzes, a Salsa workshop, and many other events that the organizing committee promise "will keep participants interested for four full days".

During MICANVAS, there will be an exclusive rock concert - renowned Indian bands Zero and Parikrama will be performing on the 27th, and popular Pakistani band Strings will be taking the stage on the 28th.

The culmination of MICANVAS is the traditional MICANVAS party on the night of the 28th.

Further information can be obtained from the MICANVAS website, or the blog which is maintained by students. Queries may be directed to micanvas.2k7[at]gmail[dot]com.
