help abt extra curricular activities

hi all
m preparing for cat 2008 ....
my acads are ok (8.5 spi if u say percentage its 78% average)
bt as far as extra curricular activites are concerned i havent got any certificates to prove abt thm
though i hav started taking part in debates ,extempore's n paper presentation's bt being new i dont have n m not getting any certificates ...
so is it tht ec's are very important and without thm u can't land into iims or some top b schools as xlri

PS: if you do well in written, GD/PI, then you can need worry.BUt it is not mandatory , to have extra currilculars to get into a good B school. They always help your chances but finally depends on GD/PI and written score.
