presentation icfai - 09-02-2010, 05:58 PM

help me in making these presentations

1. With US and EU economies in the grip of recession, more and more shoppers seem to be switching from full service retailers to discount stores. Discuss the concept of discount retailing, giving details of the world’s largest discount retailers and their operational, supply chain, and marketing strategies. Also, explain how full service retailers are responding to the threat from discount retailers.

2. Climate change is a burning issue. Several technologies have emerged which claim to reduce the ‘carbon footprints’ of companies and individuals. What is the ‘carbon footprint’? How does it affect the climate? Describe some of the technologies used to reduce the ‘carbon footprint’, giving the advantages and disadvantages associated with each of them.

3. There has been a rise in number of Indian students moving to other countries for their education. There has also been a rise in the incidents of racial attacks on Indian students abroad. With the help of facts, figures and specific examples evaluate the extent of this problem. In what way is it going to affect the movement of Indian students to study abroad? What concrete steps should the Indian government take to safeguard security of Indians living abroad?

4. Business and social development were earlier considered to be parallel lines which cannot meet. Today, corporate houses are expected to invest in corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at poverty alleviation, global development and environmental conservation. Evaluate this trend by taking up the example of one foreign multinational company and one leading Indian company. Do you think companies have a vested interest while engaging in CSR activities? Give reasons to support your views.
