Re: MBA Systems - Have done MBA in Systems and is rocking today... - 16-08-2009, 08:43 PM

Hi all,

Thnx a lot for ur valuable suggestions n replies..I found dis thread as really helpful..

Lemme introduce myself before asking my doubt..I'm kirthika..I've done with my BTech in computer Science, passed out in '09..I just joined for MBA in chennai this yr..

I've more interest towards IT field..I heard that Fin/Mktng have more scope thane HR n systems..But I dont have any aptitude towards Finance & marketing..

I'm in a dilemma whether to chose HR or Systems as my major specialization..Heard that HR has lost it job opportunities when compared to previous years..I would like to know whether I can take
-Systems as major & HR in minor
-or to take HR as major & Systems in minor?

Will my career be boosted up if i chose Systems as major with my Btech graduation?

Kindly clear my doubts..I'm in great dilemma regarding the specialization..

Thanks in advance..

Regards,
Kirthika

Anurag,

That was a nice post. My career plan is same like your's- for BA. I want to move forward but yet inclied with technology. Iam a graduate(nomal Arts graduate) with GNIIT - working technical profile with 7+ years of experience. I want to do my masters.

Can I persue distance-learning ?
If yes then is it same valuable as you mentioned ?
Where did you do your's from ?
will MBA-System is right for me ?
What will be the approach ?

any idea on fees tranure etc..

Looking forward for reply.

Thanks for this type of intersting and usefull thread

Hi All,

I am working in one of the Major IT Firm in India for last 2 years. But i need some change in my carrier. so i choose to take MBA in Chennai (i got the college). But now i have lot of confusion reg the electives.
I have below options in MBA. please suggest which would be best and valuable for my suit,
1. System with Finance
2. IT with operations
3. System with operation
I was completed my degree in Non engineer (electronics). In that last 2 yrs i was developed my knowledge (got to chance work as like eng) in tech. But i need to be shine in management now. Which above course will make me shine again in IT industry (as a BA or so).

Thanks for the founder of the thread and all your replies

Thanks in advance for all replies to this post

Nathan

I am a software developer with 1+ year of experience. I studied MSc(Computer application) from SICSR(symbiosis) ,pune.I am interested in doing MBA(systems) thru distance learning . Can anybody suggest me a good institue? I searched in SCDL, they provide MBA(IT) not Systems. I am very keen to take admission this year ... but nt finding good college for that i.e which provide distance education inMBA( Systems)

Which domain did you work on the 2 years. If it is Insurance, Banking etc, take Systems with Finance.

If it is related to ERP, take Operations with IT.

If it is neither and your still interested in ERP consultant kind of role, take operations with IT. If you want to be BA in BFSI sector, take systems and finance.

No clue what is systems and operations and how it is different from IT and operations. Maybe if you go through the syllabus, it may give you some clues.

Re: MBA Systems - Have done MBA in Systems and is rocking today... - 26-09-2009, 02:25 PM

Hi Guys ,

Ok here's the deal ...

I am currently doing my B COM in correspondence with GNIIT Course [ 2nd year ] [ 18 years of Age ]

After completion of the above two - I want to opt for MBA or an MCA Degree.

Now recently I came to know that Pune University has started a MCA [ Commerce ] Degree from this year in their university which is a blending of both Management [ 60 % ] and Technical skills [ 40 % ]

Syllabus :

Powered by Google Docs

Since I am doing GNIIT and B COM - Is MCA Course in Comerce going to help me or should i go for MBA - IT ?

Plus I am not that interested in Coding I am more management kind of a guy ! But I also want to learn coding to increase my chances of getting a job in the future ~

When you guys will check the new MCA Commerce Program from Pune University you will come to know that there is not much coding involved in it - !

They have given importance to management since it belongs to commerce field and hard core coding and maths belongs to MCA [ science ] field ~

So my resume would be like

BCOM , GNIIT , MCA [ Commerce ] and then MBA IT - Plus I am already MCP - Thanks to GNIIT Certifications - May be go for SCJP soon in my SY BCOM year

In this way I would be having knowledge of both Management as well as technical sector ~

PS : Eligibility of MCA Commerce - BCOM / BBA / BCA

Rest others [ Arts and Science ] can also apply but they will have to do some extra course of Commerce - since 65% of MCA Comerce is related to Management and 35 % is technical ~

For science there is seperate MCA [ Science ] ~

[ MCA Commerce was introduced from 09-10 batch of Pune University ]

More universities could possibly start this course from next year ~
