Hi Everyone,

Its really helpful that many are sharing their experiences here. If some of you can highlight why sme ppl got rejected in the first round, it will be more helpful. Atleast it will give an idea what not to do!!!

overall, i wd say the ability to relate ur specialisation to ur work ex/ extra curriculars/ acads really helps. u need to be very specific- being general annoys the panelists. u also need to be more careful with finance bcuz for finance the calls have been maximum and there r very few seats. the ppl in my first round gave answers like "i like numbers/ i have strong analytical abilities" when asked y they wanted to choose finance. they cdnt relate it to their work ex and when asked to choose a topic in finance they knew, they cdnt pick up anything. so, u need to be thorough with a few concepts in the specialisation u ve chosen. no detailed stuff- but general idea. like in marketing, know a bit about which are the top FMCGs etc...

Gave my interview on 11 Feb G5 .

Was in the same batch as an_ellusive_lady
As she has mentioned about the first round i would go into the second
which were individual for us .

Second round was mostly a 30sec each question thing

We had all sorts of questions

Why MBA ?
What is the UN ?
The US intrests in Iran ?
SEZ Policy should the Govt go ahead ?
Should India sign the 123 agreement ?
ADs should be banned ?
What do you think about the SOAP's on TV ?
Why do u think Congress is being voted out inspite of having a growth rate of 8.6% ?
What makes you angry at a workplace ?How do you handle it ?

Student Panel - Prasanna

What do you think about the call centre culture ?
Describe yourself in one word ?

hey that sounds like a good GD... i don't get it, our second rounds seem to be very different. mine bordered on total disinterest from the panel's side. wonder how they are going to evaluate and compare rounds.

yes i guess it all depended highly on the panel , i have heard of panels where they were asked question based only on the profile sheet mine was a rapid fire we would keep moing out heads from left to right listening to each ones answers like a tennis match .

2 panelist one old person who didnt ask many questions but a few ,one young person who asked most of the questions

I had my interview yesterday and it was a great experience of sorts... My first GI began at 10:15 AM..there were 7 people (4 with workex>2 yrs, two were 2007 passouts and one fresher).. It began with the normal introduction to ease out the tension.. Then we were asked to select an issue which we thought was close to our heart.. issues ranged from brain drain, corruption. social service, unemployment and so on.. then we were asked to formulate a topic which would encompass all of these topics.. We zeroed down on a topic name and then there was a discussion on that for around 10 min. Then there was some grilling from our profile sheet.. I had mentioned that i love reading books and newspapers.. So, was asked to talk abt my fav book and was asked to compare the newspapers 'HINDU' and the 'Times Of India'. A person who had opted for finance was grilled on the subprime.. The panel member asked him to recommend her few stocks which he felt would reap good dividends.. Then they gave us a scenario that we had to assume that we r the panel members and had to grill the person on our left with one question of our choice.... Once this got over, they asked us if we wanted to know something abt spjain.. This concluded the 1st round... It was 11:30 by the time we came out...
4 ppl from my group got thru to the next round.. and surprise surprise, i got thru too i found it hard to believe .. Took sometime for the feeling to sink in

Then we had our round 2.. 7 ppl again(6 guys and a girl.. one fresher and others with some work ex) .. totally chilled out panel.. kick started with we talking abt our USPs .. The girl mentioned abt robotics.. so we were asked to discuss the areas where we can use robotics and where we could not... Then some ppl were grilled on their work.. it was chilled out... Then there was a discussion on the sydney test match for abt 5-7 min.. In between the girl was asked to sketch the panelists as she was good at painting..A guy was asked to advertise an event (as he was into RJing in college) Thats just about it.. It was all of 20 min...
In between the two GI's we had a pyschometric test... . nothing to worry about... All in all, a great experience... My first GI ever.. so had a lot to take from this experience.....

As for the ADCOM committee, they were thoroughly professional.. Hats off guys.. U r doing a fantastic job.. kudos

I didnt get the opportunity to meet our heroes- Prasanna and Abhinav.... I guess they were not present in the registration room... Wanted to thank them personally... Great job that u r doing guys, helping us aspirants out.... cheers to u guys....

And junta who have their interview lined up , all the very best.... Play it cool and be yourself...

Cheers!!!!

No one can make sure you get a topic you are absolutely comfortable with , if you are well read and can pick up from the points other people make and connstructively add to the GD it would be great , there is no pattern to the interviews you can be asked anything work ex acads , extracurricular domain related stuff ,noone can comment on your chances with a 92+ %le , you are clearing the minimum cut off and so you are in the battle , fight it out and leave the rest to luck.
