Good MBA programs in India :

- XLRI (GMP)
- ISB
- IIMA,B,C,L,I (through GMAT)
- SP Jain (Dubai and Singapore campus)

You can check out their web-sites for more details.

I too dont have a clear idea of the profiles IIMA is looking for. Giving it a shot.
Good luck.

first, is the IIM-A application only 7 seven pages long? I mean, don't we have to write essays? Also, the application states to provide details only of the last job (i have had two jobs in the last four years). should i describe my both experieinces or just the last one?

second, what do you guys thing about my chances? my profile is:

GMAT: 690 (Q78 & V 90) I suck in math, not like the indian quant genuieses out there
WE: 4 years - small enterprise and change management consulting
BBA: top ten US business school
MA: top ten US School
Extracurricular: Excellent in college and good afterwards

left india when i was ten and am strongly gravitating towards moving back there (originally from Rajasthan).

what do you guys think about my profile and can you guys suggest some other good programs in India. I am trying to explore different programs but gotta admit I am pretty clueless about indian programs.

thanks all for your expert insights...and good luck with your journey...

Siva,

How did you go about preparing the $ 100 DD ?
Did you get a banker's cheque from a US bank or got it done from an Indian Bank ?

Thanks

Since I am in the US, I asked my dad to go to SBI Bangalore and get a US Banker's cheque for $100. They do this. They take the Rupee equivalent of $100 and give you a US Banker's cheque for $100 in which they mention "In favour of IIM-A...."

I am pretty sure the DD thing should be similar.

Thanks Siva,

My dad tried the same with SBI Branch in Mumbai.
SBI told that they issue a cheque in favor of IIM-A but drawn at Bank of New York, New York.
So I was little skeptical.

Is that the case with you too?

Yes...its the same with me.
I am pretty sure that should be fine. After all, if I had to do this from here I can only send a bankers cheque (from my local US Bank).

I will anyway let you know if IIMA sends me a query in this regard.
All the best.

Re: NRI Admission to IIM - 11-11-2007, 10:50 PM

Does anyone know NRI/Overseas candidates studying in the IIMs and their profiles? Most of the applicants have significant work ex and quite a decent GMAT score. I'm curious of my chances with a 760 and 1 year of work ex upon matriculation.

Also, are you allowed to write a SOP for Ahmedabad? Do they consider additional information?

Do we have to send our marksheets for 10th and 12th in as well along with the transcript from college? They haven't specified all the documents that are necessary?

In the IIMA form, what courses are we required to list? All ? Major related? Specific ones that we can choose?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if you are eligible to apply. Send the IIM Admission Committee a quick email to confirm. Apart from that, I think you have a strong profile!

URGENT :

Am I right in assuming that IIM -A does not require a Letter of Recommendation? Or have I misread the instructions?
