one of my friend from dubai has told me that SP jain's executive MBA is more popular in dubai than it's full time pgdbm. also last year almost everybody who applied from india got selected and I was one of them. It was a direct interview and they asked for no GMAT ot CAT. eligiblity was bachelor's degree with 50% and that's it. The main thing is you need to spent sth around Rs. 12 lacs as tution fee, boarding and other expense for the one year course. and it is quite hefty sum. Also it is a industry based highly specialized course so ppl like CA,CFA,Cs or already MBAs are better suited for this course as a simple bachelor would not be able to gain much from this course.
I think it is not a good bet as dubai's degree is not seen with great respect in indian corporate world. I can tell you an instance- One IIM-L 98 passout joined a campus offer of a dubai based company he was offered 30 lacs per annum. he worked for 4 years in dubai that company got closed due to heavy loss and he came back to India with the impression that he will get the same package as he used to get in duabi becoz he is IIM L passout and has 4 year of managerial workex. but soon he realized that wishes are not horses. he kept searching for better package as he was not ready for compromise. Now he has accepted the reality and is now working as a brach manager in Mumbai for ICICI and drawing 6.5 lacs per annum.
So ppl dont think that after working in dubai for two years it would be that easy to come back to INDIA. So do think about all pros and cons.

hi all
i received a mail from pgites asking following questions:

1. Acceptibility and Credibility of the course in India
2. Would it be suitable for ppl with no work experience
3. Kind of jobs you ppl are expected to get
4. Total Cost of Programme
5. Should a girl like me from very middle clss family should join this
course as 10 lacs are a huge sum for me

I know as a student of SPJCM you would find it more than difficult to
criticize it but plz being a girl and considering my financial status
draw a fair picture infront of me.



well answering one by one:

1. the course is exactly the same as we have it here in SPJIMR. hardly any difference.
regarding acceptibility and credibility, u will learn a lot and i think more than what u will learn in 2 years as here everything is onrapid pace and u tend to be in tuch with everything all tht time. this is my exerience as rite now i m undergoing a training in HSBC India in Delhi. so here i can find that we have learnt almost the same as what other bschool ppl learn ( i have interacted with spjimr and iim guys)

2. well work ex is not a problem. but i dunno wheter spjcm is going to consider people without work ex. for that u need to check brochure. if they r going to consider ppl without work ex then i dont think so it will be a big issue for u ppl. hardly anything t worry. we have more than 30% ppl w/o work ex.

3. jobs: well dubai is a place where there is dearth of professional. so any person can find a job of any kind. freshers w/o work ex can expect arnd : 6000AED ( = 70000 INR not a bad start in dubai) and ppl with 0-1/1.5 work ex can get 6-8k(70-100k INR) and ppl withwork ex over 2 yrs and esp CAs cab get 8 - 12 k ( 1 - 1.5 LAcs INR). u will be placed as professional in good companies.so need not worry on that point too.

4. the total cost of the prog including ur expenses on day to day basis will be not more than 11-12 lacs INR including lavish spending. an avg human being can cut down that too a max 10 lacs. but assume 10lacs as base out of which 7 lacs will be provided to u by the college as loan including Laptops. but the living that ur provided by the college there is luxurious. u get fully furnished appartments with ref/ dish cleaner/ washing m/c / cooking range etc.. living there 10lcs is cheapest that u can spend.

5. first of all DUBAI IS THE SAFEST PLACE TO BE IN FOR GIRLS. NO BODY CAN THINK OF BRINGING HARM TO FEMALES THERE. SO PLZ BEAR IN MIND THAT DUBAI IS A PLACE WHERE PARENTS CAN BE REST ASSURED THAT THEIR CHILD IS SAFEER THAN THE SAFEST.
MIDDLE CLASS ISSUE SPENDING 10 LACS : WELL MORE than 70% ppl there r from middle class who have taken loan.
the key factoris that if u r willijg to setle abroad after completion of course then this cst will be recovered in 1 year itself. even if u recover 5 lacs in one year , u utlimately end up spending 5 lacs in 2 years which is the same as what ur counterparts spend here in 2 years doing mba. the idff is that u spend double in one year and recover half in other wile others r studiyng .

MADAME, i m not here for mktg or promoting spjcm. i m going t o passout even before u guys join spjcm. so it hardly matters to me whether u join or not though we will interact at alumni parties. So irrespective of being a student or not, i strongly recommend SPJCM for those candidates who can afford to live there and those who have the zeal of going abroad and doig there mba, SPJCM is the only bschool for indiam which will guarnatee placement, no school whether it being in us ( harvard / stanford or etc) or UK / Australia will give u ppl as expats an assurance of placement after the completion of course.but spjcm with strong network in india and middle east will definitely place u ppl. doing mba from abroad u can hardly expect ot have a job offer in india, but spjcm will give u ppl an oppurtunity to even get a placement in india. so that ways if u think i think it is goood option.

well i dunno the exact no. of applicants but there were arnd 5000 applications received ( the figure qouted by spj) . well to give u an idea. all of us agree to this point tht out of our group of 14 who were there ofr gds only 2 ultimately at the max have reached. + there were certain other grups on the same day of our gd from which no one has been selected. so its not that everyone applied wass selected tht is not true but ya everyone applied received a call for gd and interview being first year and from that they chose the best 98. out of which 8 r overseas candidates who were interviewwed on phone or their in dubai itself.
