R D Burman - 21-04-2004, 02:41 PM

Hey People
First of all congratz to PG for such a fantastic effort ! I found out about this site barely a couple o weeks back, and was amazed at how helpful it is for all MBA aspirants .
The purpose of starting this thread is to discuss RD's music with all the PG'ites. RD in my opinion was a real versatile genius. Totally mind blowing music that he created in 70's and 80's is being sparayed all over in the form of the faltu remixes
But anyways, on the bright side atleast people are hearing those songs now !

I also feel that some os RD's best music came in movies which did not do too well commercially, and hence never got the notice they deserved.
I could talk endlessly abt RD...but wana hear from you guys....
So are there any other RD fans here ???

trivia about pancham da - 21-04-2004, 03:50 PM

R.D. Burman won the Filmfare Award only 4 times (love story, Sanam Teri Kasam, Masoom, 1942-A Love Story) while being nominated 16 times for the award.
and do we think the awards can do justice to what R D had given us.

he had many hits but my fav is chaand mera dil and many more

the list is never ending

HI buddies

Here are some of RD's bestest tunes, unfortunately not so popular though:

Song->Movie

Roz Roz Ankhon Tale->Jeeva
Raah pe rehte hai->Namkeen
Kya hua ek baat pe->Teri Kasam
Hum Jis Raste Pe->Teri Kasam

People try getting these songs from kazaa or coolgoose.com ,theyr amazing numbers. My personal fav RD album is Aandhi, I think Gulzar's lyrics and RD's music is totally brilliant in this movie.

Apart from that I think most of songs are brilliant, someone mentioned AmarPrem...totally mind blowing.....then there's Betaab , love story ,ijazat etc etc.
A lot of songs for movies in the early eighties were superb. Very happy and peppy songs.
