What?

To raise contributions from fellow PGites so as to rake up money for providing a new server for pagalguy.com.

Why?
We have a large number of active members - and with small contributions, we may be able to rake up enough to be able to get a brand new server for this site.

How?

1. If you are a willing donor, please say 'Aye' on this thread.
2. The account information of PaGaLGuY.com will be sent to you by PM by zango.
3. You can then transfer the money to that account by whatever means!

4. Once you have made a transaction - please say so on this thread. You don't need to mention the amount you have sent - however, if you wish, you may do so.
5. zango will send each of you a PM about the amount that he has recd from you. The PM will be copied to pagalguy for accounting reasons.
6. There is no minimum/maximum limits on contributions a person may make. Please contribute any amount which is convenient.

Just wanted to add:
Please do not make multiple posts to this thread - will help to get a count of the number of people who are willing to contribute, by taking a count of replies to this thread. If you do need to add any thoughts, please edit your post.

Also, even if with all the generous contributions from all of you, we are not able to rake up enough money - we may think of using this money in the upkeep of the existing server. (perhaps, when pagalguy.com has a public offering, we may get some shares as bonus :P

)

here is what i propose to do. Open a bank account at icici in the name of pagalguy.com - will let all of you know the bank account number. Then - each of us may contribute whatever little they may want to, by an internet or cheque transaction. All donor transactions will be revealed to each of the donors (so that the money handling is transparent).
Every once in a while, either when we have enough moolah in the bank, or at certain fixed intervals, we will transfer this sum to pg - and he may use it as he wishes.

Ofcourse, suggestions are welcome from all (please edit your posts to add your suggestions) - this is just what i was thinking of atm.

We seem to have quite a number of people now - enough to begin collecting funds, methinks. We should get on with that soon.

PG, as you can see, not a lot of ppl notice this thread. This is because the "Recent discussions" thingy is missing - and it becomes difficult to keep track of whats happening :P

Cesco, I am using a prgrm called emotipad SmileyPad - The Freeware Smiley Tool - which has the emoticon you were asking about

- however the s/w is a trial version which expires in 14 days.

also a great idea Ramki - the one about getting advertising from bookshops - it is much better than getting advertising from the various institutes. Let us see more ideas coming in

So, it is time we move on to the collection phase.
PG, we know its not going to be much, but we hope you will accept whatever little it is that we may be able to contribute.
As I posted earlier, I can make a new bank account at ICICI bank - and we can do money transfers to that account. However, it will be easier still to do transfers directly to PG. So, PG - it is upto you to tell us how to proceed further. Anyone else have any ideas/comments?

A lot of you have asked me about min/max amounts - cattie (or was it couchie?) aasked me to confirm if ICICI levies service charges on transactions of Rs 100 or less.
I spoke to ICICI folks and they have told me that my account can receive upto 1 CASH transaction(over the counter cash deposit/withdrawal) per month. After thsi one CASH transaction - a service charge of Rs 5/- per Rs 1000/- will be levied. The minimum for an over the counter CASH transaction is Rs 110/- (Rs 5/- as service charges and Rs 105/- deposited to the account).
However, there are no transaction charges on cheque deposits, irrespective of the bank, branch, location, etc. So, even if you were a Delhi resident and hold an account at a local bank in Delhi (not necessarily ICICI bank), there willl be absolutely no charges levied on either the depositor's account or the creditor's (i hope that's the correct word :P) account. Also, there are no minimum limits imposed on cheque transactions (I have once made a deposit of Rs 5/- by cheque to my account

). You will have to deposit the cheque at an ICICI bank branch/ATM
Demand drafts can also be made to my account (you just need my account number and name) - and can be dropped into a cheque-drop box at an ICICI bank branch/ATM. You do not need to post the demand draft/cheques to me.
Demand drafts transactions are similar to cheque transactions, except that you will have to pay an extra fees to the bank where you get the demand draft made. This mode of transfer is convenient if you do not have any bank account.
I will once again state that there are no min-max limits - please contribute any amount which is convenient.
As PG said - once you have made a transaction - please say so on this thread. You don't need to mention the amount you have sent - however, if you wish, you may do so.
Please please please - do post your queries to this thread and/or read this thread for any queries you may have - it will be very difficult for me to reply to each of your queries if you post them to me by PM
