The chances are not so bright. This year (unlike the prev. years) most of the students have shown the willingness to join NIA. So hardly a few students on the waitlist will get the chance. But there r no fixed dates. As and when a selected student informs us that he wants his 25K back because he is joining another coll, a waitlisted student is called. So won't be able to give u the timeline. Plus, u don't know ur number on the waitlist also.

Ha Ha Ha ... sorry but can't help laughing. Yes, you have really overrated NIA.

Now let's handle the "Why it is so" question :

1. U r comparing NIA with general MBA collages. That's why u c this. But compare NIA with the other few bschools which offer MBA Insurance. And then u will c the true picture.

2. Yes, there r a few specialized bschools (like XLRI, IIFT, NITIE, etc.) which can be compared with any top class general MBA collages. But NIA is very young ... NIA has a long long way to go before we can start comparing NIA with other top class general MBA collages.

3. So does that mean that NIA is no.1 in insurance sector but not amoung the top class MBA collages in India? Answer is YES !!! Otherwise our cutoff would also have been above 95%.

And untill NIA gets there, we will have to be satisfied with whatever NIA has achieved so far (and wahtever it will achieve by the time u ppl pass out.)

About Summers : This is the first time when we have infact achieved 100% paid summer internship record. So from next year onwards we will be able to actually bargain for the money. But even better news is that this time we r definitely on the track of getting better summer projects. So from next year there will be even better improvement in the quality of work given to u during the summers.

About Final Placements : Everyyear the salaries are increasing by 1 lac/annum. So if we hope that the trend will continue then the worst candidate of ur batch will also get 6.5/6.75 because our lowest this time was 4.75.

I have got some queries:

1. What are the daily expenses on campus?

2. Is the laundry service charged at NIA or is it free?

3. Last year, had the seniors opted for bulk deal of laptops? If yes, let us know the brand they got and the cost price.

Thanks in advance

1. Daily expenses are ZERO.

2. Laundry service is charged.

3. Our class was not able to form a consensus on a single brand and then a single model. So ppl formed their smaller groups and approached different vendors. The cheapest laptop in our class is around 25k and costliest is around 75k. And both the students r satisfied.

Hi Puys,
I have purchased a laptop just 3 days back. Visited a lot of shops and went through almost all the brands. So, may be i can help. I myself purchased SONY VAIO. Though, it is somewhat costly than other laptop brands of its cadre, the functioning is excellent. And looks are awesome. The reason why i purchased VAIO was not just its looks, but the quality of Sony's products. And i also got a lot of positive feedback from people who are using sony's laptop.

A piece of note. LG has introduced a new laptop for just 28000 bucks. It has all the necessary features. I myself took its demo and it was xcellent. I heard from many people in this field that LG's laptops are gaining popularity. I didnt purchased it because i don't like LG brand that much. You can say a somewhat brand-disliking.

I am also attaching a PPT presentation "Laptop Buying Guide" which i got from one of the threads at PG. An excellent presentation. It includes almost all info that u need when u are buying a laptop.

Further, i would also like to add one more thing. In the month of March, specifically in the last 2-3 weeks, the prices of all brands of laptops are reduced by their companies because they want to achieve their annual sales target. Moreover, there are also very wonderful schemes given with the laptops. The one scheme that i found very interesting was of 0% finance scheme. This scheme is xcellent for all those people who wanna purchase laptops on finance. In the month of march, they can buy at 0% rate of interest. All companies are now selling laptops at 0% interest. Now, if we buy laptops later on by taking education loan from banks, we will have to pay around 12-13% interest. So, i personally feel we should buy laptops at this point of time only. Apart from this, in this year's Financial budget, no specific reduction in prices of electronic goods is proposed. So, we cannot expect much reduction in the prices of the laptops in the next 3 months, say. Those who are willing to buy laptops can make a rough calculation of prices along with finance interest rates and decide.
