Xuberance 2006: Fight of a Warrior
Lateral Placements at XIM, Bhubaneswar
Two grueling years. Countless deadlines. Varied emotions, from exasperation to frustration. Small victories and big losses. Well, if you think that this is some mumbo-jumbo of a nerd, then kindly beware. What I have just told you all is nothing but the life of a warrior. One who has the sole purpose to fight and to conquer. To help the army of which he is an important part, march on to relinquish the enemy. And everything that hardens his soul, the unshakeable spirit and the battle hardy physique, is learnt not in the confines of the house but in the training grounds.
If we consider today's world, then the greatest battle of all is the battle of occupying a consumer's mind. And the warriors are none other than the managers, the corporate bigwigs, the modern day Shahs and Sultans of warfare. And such an army is not something, which happens by chance. The choicest people, the ones who prove their mettle, are allowed to rub shoulders with each other and this is done at places none other than B-schools. Once the warriors are groomed, the managers who have been given a glimpse of the war that they are supposed to fight, they are officially absorbed in the corporate armies. And that's the day that any B-school student waits for with bated breath. The Placement Day.
Day 1 Placements for XIMB started today (7th January 2006) for the batch of 2004-2006. Placements for Laterals had already been finished before the above-mentioned date, a fact oft-repeated by the term Day 0 (Zero).
The details for the Lateral Placements are as under:
Companies, which recruited laterals, were ATOS Origin, JP Morgan, E&Y;, McKc, Mindtree Consulting, GenPact, Accenture, ITC Infotech, HP, IBM, Infosys, TCS, iGATE, Wipro Technologies, Progeon, PCS and many more... They gave in a total of 85 offers. The major recruiters for laterals have been Infosys with 8 offers, TCS with 5 and Wipro with 9. The important fact to notice is that these figures do not include the number of Pre-Placement Offers / Interviews (PPOs and PPIs) which amount to 20. The highest international salary package was provided by OLAM International.
The process for recruiting freshers is underway and the same shall be informed as and when live updates come. Hence, we just have to keep our fingers crossed and wait for the same till evening.

Xuberance 2006-News as it happens!!

It is often said that History repeats itself. However, rarely does one get to see a practical example of the same. The students of XIMB got the rare opportunity.indeed, the opportunity of a lifetime..to witness history repeating itself. Just one year ago, on the 8th of January, 2005, the nation watched as the students of the batch of 2005 at XIMB made themselves and their institute proud by achieving 100 percent placements within a span of just a few hours.
So unbelievable was the experience that few believed that it could ever be replicated. But they were wrong. The batch of 2006 went a few notches above their predecessors by achieving 100% placements on day 1 itself, and was part of the record-breaking experience that was Xuberance, 2006. The amazing performance of the lateral candidates in Xuberance 2006 was matched at every stage by the freshers, who were no less breathtaking in their show.
While the exact numbers are yet to be arrived at, the preliminary calculations yield the following results. A total of 202 offers were made for 121 candidates, yielding an average of 1.67 offers per candidate. The highest domestic salary of 9 lacs per annum was offered by ATOS Origin. *The average domestic salary this time is expected to be around 6.95 lacs per annum, and the exact figures will be available shortly. On the international scene, OLAM International made the highest offers of $85000 per annum. The companies which made their presence felt on campus for the first time were ATOS Origin, Mindtree Consulting, OLAM International, Ernst and Young, IBM, and Cargill Foods among many others.
The first year students of XIMB have been matching their seniors step by step, what with the summer placement process at XIMB going on as smoothly as ever. With well-known companies like Walt Disney, United Bank of Switzerland, and PwC gracing the campus, the sun surely seems to be shining on Xavier Square, Bhubaneswar.
While it may appear now that such a performance will be difficult to replicate, if we go by past record, placements at XIMB are likely to get better and better as the years go by. Only time will tell.

Hi,

For any guy who joins with a 3 year IT experience and goes thru XIMB PGP, then going by this years figures, where is such a candidate posted and what are the offers he have got if he has taken ERP Systems??

Which is the best choice to go for such a guy in XIM? SYSTEMS & FINANCE. so that he doesnot forgo his 3 year experience as well as get the FINANCE Advantage. Please advise.

What does it take to be eligible for international placements?? is he the batch topper or that sort??

To be eligible for international placements you need not be a batch topper. Your entire profile like your work-ex, academeic background, final year subjects..etc matter.
Here at XIMB we dont specifically give out student grades during placements unless asked for.
Looking at your profile you will be eligible for lateral placements.
System remains the hot domain here...apart from that finance too saw good placements this year with companies like JP Morgan picking up several people with packages ranging from 7-8.7 lacs.
Even system laterals got packages from 6.5 to 9 lacs...and yeah this were not according to ur grades..it depended on ur entire profile.
Hence if ur looking at Sys&Fin; u wont be disappointed here
Xuberance 2006-Breaking the shackles!!

Exuberance (adjective) 1. lively and cheerful. 2. growing profusely.

and the battle ended, with results that lived up to the spirit and the very meaning its name conveys. Each and every valiant warrior fought with acumen, tact and zeal, and the cumulative result surpassed every standard that had ever been set by their clan. The process, apart from being lively and cheerful, saw a steady growth in results, over past years.

Not only did the 2004-2006 batch of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, achieve 100% placements by Day 1 of the Placement Week, they also broke the shackles of being average "5 point someones", and established themselves as the mighty "7 point XIMBians!"

The batch of 121 students bagged over 206 offers, an average of 1.7 offers per student, and drove the average salary up to INR 7.12 lakhs per annum, as against INR 5.24 Lakhs per annum the last year. Of all offers made, 20 were Pre Placement Offers. With 52 companies bagging all the students, numerous companies scheduled to come from Day 1 onwards had to be cancelled, and yet others were forced to return empty handed.

The highest domestic salary of 9 lakhs per annum was offered by ATOS Origin, followed by JP Morgan, with an offer of 8.6 lakhs per annum. On the international front, OLAM International made the highest offer of $85000 per annum.

Numerous companies like Infosys (26 offers), TCS (14 offers), IBM (11 offers), Wipro (10 offers), JP Morgan (6 offers), GenPact (10 offers), Mindtree Consulting (7 offers) and Ernst and Young (6 offers), made multiple offers.

Among lateral recruiters ATOS Origin, JP Morgan, Accenture, Infosys, Cargill India, and Wipro Technologies, ITC Infotech, Progeon, Mindtree Consulting made handsome offers.

A summary of Xuberance '06 is given below:

Highest Domestic salaryRs. 9 Lakhs Per Annum
Highest International Offer$85,000/- Per Annum

Prof. Saveeta Mohanty, the Faculty Placement Coordinator for XIMB, could barely conceal her joy. "It gives us a great deal of pleasure to see our efforts bearing fruit in such a lavish and extravagant manner." she quoted.

The IT sector, which amassed 34% of the batch, was once again the largest recruiter, followed by the consultancy firms which appropriated 22%. The Manufacturing Sector came in next with 16% closely followed by banking & Finance sector and FMCG Sector with 10% each.

"We are impressed by the quality of students and they all showed a professional attitude during the interviews." These were the words of Sr. Manager, Patni Computers.

A sector wise distribution of our key recruiters is given below:

Leading the glorious team, Vinit Puri, Student Placement Coordinator, 2005-06, chose to highlight the fact that nothing took place automatically. He emphasized on the hours of effort that went into organizing and coordinating the placement process. "It is difficult to pinpoint any one individual or group of individuals as responsible for this astounding success of ours. Every single person on campus pitched in, and the end result has been truly worth it."

To complement his views, Mr. Richard Lobo, Corporate Manager, H.R., Infosys adds, "The placement coordination this time has been great.a lot of attention to detail and sincere efforts from everyone."

The sincere efforts of faculty at XIMB, to bring about an all round development in students, and shape them into compassionate, hard working individuals, helped students stand apart, and come out on top.

Father E. Abraham S.J., Director, XIMB, applauded the efforts of everyone involved in Xuberance 2006 and said that he was elated to see the sparkling results. His exact words were, "Time and again, the students and faculty of XIM have shown that below all the frills, what ultimately make the difference are tenacity, perseverance, and above all, humility."
