dude u should not be having any confusion in this..........without any second thoughts XLRI should be ur outright preference.......
reasons:
1) higher average pay.
2) better teaching faculty.
3) strongest alumni network(which will help u throught ur career)
4) it is an institute that is considered at par with the IIM's

Converted XL after being wait listed 2 years back... Slowly the feeling is sinking in.. Anyway my story is that of the things u don't do to convert a call
I was really unwell during the XAT exam... Infact could not do a part of the verbal section.
I was very pissed of, and really screwed up the essay... it was pathetic to say the least.... then cam the unexpected call, with good splits (97.95)..
Abt my PI the lesser said the better... Read some iview experience in PG and decided that I would also be surely screwed in some economics terms... So read a lot of those on the last day... Then finally I had so little time that i crammed up the lunch, which left me very dizzy in the long ride to the iview center at delhi... To top it all I was wearing an ill-fiting suit...Then IHC really intimidated me, took some time to find the center. There waited for a few mins, and the iview lasted just 10 mins... Profs were really sweet, but I came out with the feeling that I had screwed this one up. Especially when they asked me abt Disaster Mgmt, I didn't have any solid facts, and went abt giving some common sense funda....
With the above back ground, I had given up on my chances (2 years back it was the exact opp: good scores, and good PI and still got wlisted 73).... But out comes the final call and am I on ClOuD 99999 Sorry for the long post, needed to get ot of my mind

i m currently working at Citibank, NY thru a s/w company Hexaware Tech Ltd... just came here after my XL i/v... wud b back by mid may... hope tht is ok or shud i prepone my return...
also i wud like to confirm the pros/cons for leaving IIT MTECH v/s XLRI (BM)... IITs I hav Kharagpur and lowers...

I think among the points you mentioned, only point 3 is somewhat true. Please get your facts right.
Plus the only tangible thing an alumni network can get you is placements, and MDI is right up there with anyone as far as placements are concerned.
For the record, I have a final call from MDI PGP-M and XLRI PM-IR, and I intend to go for MDI as of now.
