I am starting this thread on the lines of the venerable old thread for IIM Final Call Getters...I think a separate thread is justified because XLRI has a very different profile as an institution from the IIMs. Even in the selection procedure, for example, there is no GD (abolished some 3-4 years back I think) but there is an essay in the written test. So I request all XLRI final call getters - past and present - to post on this thread.Please make sure that you mention:

2) Essay Rating: Not really sure. It was ok, I guess. Maybe 7/10.
3)Interview: It was very good. Could've gone even better though. 8.5/10

Academic - Topped my college in 1 Semester(Small fry)
Non-Academic - Multiple major basketball tournament victories, including the Andhra Pradesh Inter-Engineering Tournament.
Coached the girls team to a bronze medal in a major tournament.

Captain of the college Basketball team, Coach of the girls basketball team.

6) Achievements: Topped my college in bachelors, RMO 93, 0.1% certificate from CBSE, 5th rank in RSBM(some maths competition) in 95. Was selected to play national in chess in 97.
7) Hobbies - Current affairs/History, Mathematics.
I keep hearing about the friction between BM and GMP guys. Hope this batch(on both sides) acts more maturely 😃

Chances are 50/50. I don't know why XLRI has been stubborn in accepting just XAT scores. BTW, I heard a GMP guy making through this time on the basis of GMAT score. Not very sure though.

I guess interview matters a lot... the percentile may have saved me though.

GMAT..Hmmm......U will realise with a single interaction with the top people in the insti ..that they dont think too highly of GMAT 😃 We've heard so much abt how bad GMAT is as an examination technique in our classes!! 😃

3)Interview: kind of weird .. was asked at the end of the interview if i thought the panel gave me a fair chance !

Engg. - CSE - 7.36 / 10 from IIIT hyd.
6) Achievements :-
Academic - None ! except respectable IITJEE and state engineering exam ranks. i don't know if thats an academic achievement !
Non-Academic - nothing major.
7) Extra-curricular Activities:-
Mostly played cricket at the school and the inter-college level, some how the panel seemed to be interested in my cricket certificates !
And organising some events for the technical festival of our institute

At the risk of sounding like a rabidly loyal XLer(which I am turning into), I would like to point out that XLRI started the 1 year GMP in 1997 whereas IIMA and IIMC have started theirs last year and this year respectively....

true. but it was for sponsored candidates, mostly. for the GMP starting in June, 2004,
the admission was through XAT. from that year onwards, the GMP has come into
lime light.
