so much talk goin on here about criteria not clear but guyzz i think its pretty evident frm the scores ppl hav put in here tht they hav 95% as QA cutoff, 85% as VA cutoff and 65% as GA cutoff..... i sont think there is ne deviation frm this rule....

i think u should concentrate on 2006 admissions that would mean a lil less competition for me at xim-b. by the way wat are ur splits?? i feel sorry for mysore guy didnt get an xim-b call at 98.xx

the selection criteria seems something like this:
1) quant cutoff 95%
2) GA cutoff 65%
3) VA cutoff 85%
4) there can be a compromise on (2) OR (3) but not both, in case sm1 has got very high %tile in either GA or VA and an overall very high %tile.
{i m not sure abt the (5)th one.}
5) there is an upper cutoff, like if sm1 has got above 98 in all three, he will miss out.

INSTANCES TO SUPPORT ABOVE THEORY-

I strongly disagree. I did not get a call....I thought its my bad engg acads, or sectionals, guess thats not the reason....
Even a guy with 99 VA, 90+ in both QA and GK and NEt 99+, 1 year Work ex, 75% in Engg, cudnt make it.... dun know whats the funda.

no my dear friend, XL does have sectional cut-offs. Else, with the kind of percentiles that have fetched calls, I'm sure my 98.1 overall would have fetched me a call too. It's just the case that they probably have very low sectional cut-offs this time.

P.S. I had a 38.28 in GA . And 98.76, 97.06 respectively in Quant and VA. Anyways, I could not even think of getting a call with this split , not even in dreams.

probably XL don't hv SECTIONAL cut off s this time. i got selected , 99.94 %le over all, 99.98 in QA, 99.39 in GA but 78 in VA, i repeat, 78 in VA. nyway, am happy but feel sorry for those who did not not get thru.

English : 89.6
G.K. : 92.16

Overall : 93.95
7 months work ex
average acads @ NIT Calicut

Me too feel sorry for him.
Again there are guys who didnt get a call with 99+

i didnt get xl calls...can't say i'm very dissapointed coz i sort of chilled out after cat and didnt prepare well..
but whats confusing is the criteria for the calls...one of my friend has a call and his scores r some thing like this

quants around 55 percentile
verbal around 50 percentile
ga around 40 percentile

i just couldnt get the hang of it

Hey just thought whether the XLRI guys considered your question and answers for interview calls....
becoz my friend who scored 95%ile above in all sections and overall 99.03 didn't make it thr while me with 81%ile in GA and 90%ile above in QA/VA and overall 98.27 made it through...
even his academics are much better than mine....

Are you serious tachyon ?

Are u sure of the veracity of ur friend's claim ?

One such stray incident happened in my college with one of my seniors.
But his overall was 81.

And at that time , our college was rife with speculation that , there are a lots of things fishy about XL.

But this is the limit

Throughly mistaken as if this were true I would have got a BM call... My GA is decent...

Now, as always grapes are sour... I think I will stop typing in my disbelief and agony here, so posted it on my blog.....

I think your scores seals it.
95 + in quants.

And my take on cut-offs

2 sections with 95 + ( one shuld be quants )
other sections individually

english : 85
GK : 60

I dont think there are more than 5 exceptions to this thumb rule.

And well, about these 5 , CAT/ XAT is a science of exceptions.

well missed up on xlri with 96.5%ile overall and 89 each in VA and QA and 98 in GK.
Still i cud not believe the results of many ppl of this forum.
last yr ppl with even 94%ile managed xl bm call
donno wt the xl ppl r upto this yr
hope this is only a virus attack
