GD Details
Topic: Religion should not be mixed with politics
Number of Ppl present : 5 out 8
GD was followed by a written summary of the discussion
Time: 1min to think, 8 mins to discuss and 1 min to summarize, 5 mins to write down the summary

Brief Snapshot of Discussion: A very easy topic with just 5 people. It could have been a great discussion. Everyone spoke at least twice. However, no interesting points were made. And 1 minute was too less for summarizing. Only two could speak during this 1 minute.

My performance : 2/5

PI Details:
Slot: 25th Feb, 9:00 a.m.
Panel Number: Only one panel present
Panel Members Intro: 3 Male professors
Questions:
1. Which specialization?
2. But environmental engineering and Operations is a highly specialized field, and XIMB does not not have any companies coming for recruitment for this combination. You will struggle while finding a job. Are you sure you want this?
3. You're from such a prestigious institute (DCE) with such a special branch, please make sure you don't waste your knowledge by switching to finance, marketing. How will you make use of your graduation degree?
4. tell me what have you learnt about the techniques or various concepts of Environmental Engineering
And it was over. hardly 7-8 mins

My performance : Cannot comment at all. It was an interaction more than a question-answer scenario. the panelists were very friendly. :)

MISC. : As I picked up my file and got up from my seat, the leftmost professor smiled and said "Shukriya Akram".
I finally felt happy
@akram27 They had mentioned WAT in their selection process...?? Summary of the GD is what they meant by WAT or is there a separate WAT that they conduct..???

@VSK1608 No WAT is only the written summary which you have to write in 5 mins post the discussion.

Work-Ex (number of months): 51(34 in BSNL and 17 in TCS)
Date: 26.02.2013 9:00 AM
Venue: XIM Bhubaneswar

GD Details: (case based/general) General
Topic: MS Dhoni is a good batsman and wicket keeper but not a good captain.
Number of people present: 07
Time: 9 AM

Brief Snapshot of Discussion: There were 3 panelist and we were 07 people (1 lady). Most of us had work-ex. We're given 1 minute to think and then start. I started the discussion. It was a balanced discussion and everyone got ample opportunity to speak. It was not a fish market. Then the panelist gave a warning bell for the last minute and the lady summarized it very well. Then we're asked to summarize the topic in writing based on the discussion. Overall, everyone was satisfied with the performance.

PI Details:
Slot: 26th Feb, 9:00 AM
Panel Number: There was only one panel.
Panel Members Intro: Three gentleman
Questions: It started with my name (being STALIN). They asked me what do I know about Stalin and answers followed. The prof was satisfied I guess with my answer. Then they jumped onto my current profession (BSNL) and fired questions about today's current scenario and why it's going down. I was almost asked for 10 minutes on BSNL. Then the final question that was put to me was why did I leave TCS and join BSNL. And there is no job guarantee after MBA; would your experience in BSNL help you in getting a job. Then I said I just want to do a Masters and haven't thought on those lines. The prof was satisfied I guess. Overall I feel I have done well; but it's again up to the panelists what they think of me. FINGERS CROSSED.

MISC.: There was no misc questions.

Any other relevant detail from your experience which you feel should be shared:
Be cool and don't get stressed. Freshers be ready with your academics and work-ex people need to focus on their domain knowledge.

ALL THE BEST TO THE REST !!

VENUE: Delhi

GD Details: (case based/general)
Topic: Rail Budget: The next leap forward
Number of Ppl present: around 8
Time: 10+5
Brief Snapshot of Discussion: It was a good discussion. Everyone got a chance to put forward their points. We were asked to write a summary in 5min. Well conducted.

PI Details:
Slot: 9AM
Panel Members Intro: 3 panelists

Questions: Why not MS? When I answered P1 didn't give me a chance to finish...jumped on to next question
Difference between electrical and electronics? Again didn't let me answer and skipped to next question.
Discussion on semiconductors and Silicon in specific
What are the components of mobile? How does it work? (wasn't given a chance to explain properly)
Explain work ex and then follow up questions on that.
Speed of 3G and 4G
Panelists read through my family background and education details on my form. No personal or HR questions. No questions at all on current affairs or finance/eco.
Panelists were not letting me complete my answers and explain properly. They kept interrupting and jumping on to the next question the moment I started answering.
PI was extremely fast and a rushed process. It barely took 5-6min, not sufficient to judge a person at all.

MISC.
Go through graduation subjects and domain of work-ex. My interview was completely technical, absolutely no focus on current affairs. Not much of a stress interview, panelists were not very friendly but not too strict either. Try to give short, crisp and to-the point answers because the interviews are very short and panelists didn't seem too interested in listening to answers.
Overall process got over within 2 hrs max.

All the best! :)

This is the RM thread, for BM & HRM post here -

Interview experience (XIMB)

CAT-96.7

Interview Date-26.02.2013
Slot-Morning 9 am

We were a bunch of 10 out of which 3 didn't turn up.
GD-"Who goes to kumbh mela WE or THEY".
Very bad topic. It was very evident that we were short of content.Every one chipped in at least a couple of times.Very peaceful GD with occasional silence.

PI-Same panel of 3 for PI
P1-The moment i entered i was bombarded with hard core acads questions.I was asked to comment on some of the worst theories of political science (considering i am a Pol. Sc. grad) and as expected i replied "Very sorry sir but i don't have the required knowledge on this topic".
After a couple of such replies the interviewer told me 'so what do you know about Pol. Sc.' to which i politely replied sir my area of interest is International relations.Asked me a question on 'perceived notion of Chinese threat' and before i could answer he looked at the other panelist and asked him to question me if he wished to.

P2 (best of the lot)- What is NAM?
I answered.
Then asked to comment on India's present political structure-Gave him some more gyan.
Then he said since MBA involves a lot of Quant i have my doubts i would be able to cope with it (considering i am an Arts graduate) to which i replied I am fairly good at it and if given a chance i would definitely get better and make sure i am at par with the best.

P3-During the entire episode he simply kept gesturing to the other two fellows after every one minute to wrap up.(Wonder if it was a pressure tactics or he didn't like my face

@sharmankit Who is "we" and who are "they"? What a topic!
@sharmankit Bhai wat did u guys talk in ur gd..??? topic makes no sense 2 me..its like askng ajj kya khaya roti ki chapati..?? did u carry a resume..??

"We?" ,"They?" "Why?"

Can we keep it separate, please? This is the RM thread,I suppose. Others, post on the respective threads. Let's not clutter.

Would love to see some more experiences here,..anyone?
