Is there anybody who can advise on whehter it is worth spending 800 pounds on GMAT tuition attending classes twice a week for 3 and half hrs for 8 weeks?? The compnay is called Manhattan Review. I guess many of you may have heard abt it. I am thinking of applying in US Bschools before 2nd Deadline which is in Jan & give GMAT in Dec 1st week.
I have also heard that the difficulty level has also gone up in GMAT. My weekdays are extremely busy but if by smart time management I can prepare for it, I really don't want to pay 800..Please help!!

800 Pounds..???? r u out of ur mind.. its crazy money unless they are going to teach u 1,2,3,4 and A,B,C,D and then all the basic of quant and english starting from class one level to class 10 level in this short period.. With a lil help/ advice from PG dudes, coupla good books, dedication and smart study planning ull crack GMAT at ur own.. Save the money.. ull need it for applications.. If u r still eager to spend it then study on ur own (ill help wherever needed) and when u crack it hrow me a party (at ur expense ofcourse)..

Simz - I know 800pounds is freaking expensive. But when you are talking about Manhattan Review and London - you are looking at the best in the GMAT-business in a very, very expensive place 
Dreamachiever - My take is do a rain-check. Spend some doing the following (strictly in order mentioned). This is presuming that you have done a preliminary analysis on GMAT - number of questions, areas test etc.
(1) Download GMATPrep software from MBA.com and take a diagnostic test. Get a feel of the test
(2) Try to get OG 11 and Manhattan SC & RC-CR books from the net. Google for it you will find it. I don' t think they sell it through book-stores
(2) 2 days doing 10 passages from OG 11 RC using the approach mentioned there (skeletal sketch & detailed map)
(3) 2 days doing atleast 50 questions OG 11, stressing on the primary focus areas - finding an assumption/conclusion.
(4) 3 days on OG 11 SC (including atleast 1 weekend because this is darn tough). Focus a lot on getting your concepts clear. There are about 9 "buckets" - do atleast 5 questions on each bucket.
(5) 2 days on OG 11 Quant - revise concepts and pick about 5 questions in each topic-area.
(6) 1 day on OG 11 DS - just get the concept of DS cleared out. This would mean understanding the "trick" and practising out about 20 questions.
(7) Take GMATPrep Second test (there are 2 tests in that software). See where you are going wrong and take a call.
The above is a 10-day plan. If you start off by this week you should be done by October 20th. Then you atleast have a clear idea of what to expect and what not.
2 things:
(1) I would expect you devote atleast 2-3hours a day for this. Nothing more, nothing less. If you are able to hit the books at around 7pm you should expect to do it till 10pm. Plan aggressively
(2) When I say 2days or 3 days, I don't mean you do just that topic. But more like a mix and match so that you don't end up getting bored. We are looking at about 20hours for the above.
One Oct 20th, even if you go ahead and take up the 800pound course, you will atleast be able to extract the most out of it. Or better still you might end up saving money.

PS: I would say target 600 for GMAT Prep 1st test. And about a 60-80 point difference for GMAT Prep 2nd test should mean you are doing good !! 😃

one thing is absolutly clear the ppl making the papers have realised that students givin the paper are usually not showing their aptitude but their tutorial's hard work

tuitions? to study wat weve studied in x xi and xii again?? feel its a waste of time and money.. i think ne one committed enough can crack the cat and gmat with enough practice... guess there wld b a lot who wld disagree..but this is my view point..

agree with malayali on CAT & GMAT not being the kinda exams u can get "tutored" for...hence, 800 pounds is ridiculously expensive.
There's lotsa free stuff available on forums...& prep options which would cost u a lot less..(Ref to psycho's plan)

hi thanks for the gyan... i wrote cat 2006...scored 90.33 percentile, much below my expectation....thinking of gmat...i have no idea on where to start from....could you please guide me abt wht books to start referring...
