Amazing quote to learn and say.....but not real nowadays. Mr. Wintle didn't know about the MBA colleges in India, which depresses you at every moment of life because of your poor past.
I am very excited to start this thread for the guys who thinks that that there is very little for them in the world and trying again and again just gives them more and more chances to get depressed.
Though poor acads, less or average %ile can stop you from going to a good or top colleges, but they can't stop your success.

Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough..
So be prepared and get your bag pack coz we are here to prove something that we know but the world don't.

Also I am looking for the queries of the students who wants good colleges, but lacking in other criterias.
Please open up and express your feeling and suggestions.
hey guys, I want to add one more thing that i started this thread just to share our feeling, to erase our pessimism. Please help me to search good colleges that have a criteria of 80 to 90 %ile CAT scores, so that people who think they have no option can get thousands of them.

Thanks

nice initiative man..we can be successful what is past is past.

True dude...nicely written

I didn't get a single IIM call @97.75 , all sectionals above 90.
:drinking::drinking:
Even IIT Kharagpur has rejected me now...:drinking::drinking:
10 years back i didn't knew i will be preparing for MBA.Else i would have studied properly:drinking:

An average college.

even though you may have improved drastically but indian colleges feel you are not meant for big things if you were not good in class 10th.. i was playing badminton at state level but unhe usse koi lena dena nai..they need studies nerds who have been good all their lives...

is there any way i can give exams of 10 and 12th now once again?? or should i frgt mba?

struggle and more struggle......

Last year when i started preparing for CAT, i always wondered why is this forum is called pagalguy. Now i am realizing it why..:drinking:

Absolutely well said dude!!! Walter doesn't know much.. Or may be he has excellent acads or a super brilliant... After all those sleepless nights wat I am getting is some more sleepless nights 😞 😞

No IIM calls @ OA-97.58 %ile( above 92 %ile in each section)...92% in 10th,80% in XIIth....initially i cursed myslf 4 missing dem all...bt seriously guys, since da tym all dose IIMs got dere shortlists out,i hv bin feeling quite good.True dat i wasnt dat mch serious during my XIIth n grad(a mere 7 pointer),true dat i did not cross da 95% mark in my 10th...but had i been da guy who crams evrything he is askd 2,widout ever giving it a second thought as to why is he doing dat,i wud nvr hv experienced sm of da most memorable moments of my lyf...heck man,an IIM cnt stop me 4m fulfilling my burning desires!!!! for evry IIM dat closed its door for me dis yr,i will find 10 oder options to succeed

I am person in the same boat but with a different outlook. An average brat, 91%ile and the same in 10nth, 12th and decent extra curricular and a horrible graduation.

But despite my repeated failures (so called), I honestly do not think I am one bit lesser than the guy who made it to an IIM or a similar institute. This is not arrogance or defiance, it is just a belief which I believe in.

If you have substance, then you need nothing more. Yes, IIM gives you the brand name, yes, they pave the way for a good career, yes, they do this, yes, they do that but they only add to what you have, they don't take away what you inculcated over the past 20+ years in your personality.

One thing that perplexes me is that if most of the students believe that the selection criteria of IIM is biased and not up to the mark, then why are you depressed that you did not make it to the IIM. After all, their selection criteria is skewed. If it is, then obviously they don't have the capability to judge the best people out there. (My respect for XL here, lowering their cut offs)

Rahul Dravid, Shahrukh Khan, APJ Abdul Kalam and many others never cleared an SSB. I did, in my very first attempt, while I was studying in 12th, joined Army, came back due to a medical ailment which was beyond my control, after burning my a** off for two and a half years in the toughest military academy of the world, and starting my life all over again at the petty age of 22.

Should I sit down and cry that life was unfair or things did not happen? It was a dream that was not to be, but I did clear an SSB, so does that make me better than Mr. Kalam or Mr. Khan. I bet it doesn't but still SSB is much more challenging than a normal MBA interview and judges the personality at a much deeper level. But still, I am nowhere even close to these people mentioned above. Why? Coz, it does not matter if the f****** SSB board rejected them.

What matters is what these guys made out of their life with what they had, not what they thought they should have.

After two years, I and an IIM grad would be MBA graduates, on the same playing field. He would have a headstart, but I will try, I will wake up every morning and I will try hard, over and over again till life gives me my due. I have promises to keep, not to someone else but myself, an by jove I will. By my experience, I can tell you that just keep trying, even if you fail 100% of the time, only if you have given your 100% at each of these occasions, believe me you would die with a smile on your face (euphemism intended).

IF DEATH STRIKES BEFORE I PROVE MY WORTH, I PROMISE, I WILL KILL THAT DEATH.

:cheerio:Brotha!

Nice thought behind this thread... But please stop cribbing (as estranged_gnrs rightly said)

This thread can serve better purposes, like for instance, this thread can be a platform for the so called "average ppl" to exchange there thoughts and try to leverage on their strong points...

The next exam season is hardly 8 months awau... lets do something constructive... whatsay puys?

YouTube - Nike Best Inspirational Commercial

just watch this video and u will realise what an averageman or an underdog can do.
I have 66% in 10th and 70% in 12th courtsey UP Board and my self too. I know that even if i get a 100%ile, i wud not be called even from a single IIM, but i dont care. An IIM tag is not all that u need.
FMS, XLRI are in now way lower colleges that an IIM be it any one, I am not saying all this because am having a call from B. School. I do not know what will happen in my GDPI, but never did i let the past background bog me down.
True that an IIm tag would make u a brand in the industry but so wil an FMS or XLRI or MDI wil do and a few years later we all will be in the same field. So go on and get what you deserve instead of cribbing about past performance.. Who cares for such ridiculous criteria... Just beleive in yourself and you will get what you dream and deserve ...
CHEERSS 😃

Sometimes i ask a similar question to my friends gosh , it would have been much easier for me , if either i had very low IQ or i had a high IQ , a life of an avg guy always starts with hardwork and it forms the basis of it :), but then i realized that i wasnt cribbing that i was an avg guy . but i was cribbing because i would need to put in extra hardwork the next time to do better, or try do the best of what i have got

How does it matter , if you have not done well in your 10th or 12th or graduation or for that matter an MBA from an IIM , its always you and your effort which will make you successful in life , there is no proof of a MBA from IIM being better than from a lesser ranked b school , its your quality of work that defines your long term career

What i have learnt in my life is that to never give up , even if you have 100 people saying that you can't make it , it is always wonderful to prove everybody wrong , to look at your courage and let them admire your achievement

Guys do the best with what you have got

Would like you see this video from steve jobs

Don't get hopeless friend!! You know my acads scores are also very poor, but still I am happy because I know if I would have scored 90 or 95in 10th and 12th, then I never have thought of MBA. Perhaps my parents would have send me to some reputed engineering college, that could have been the worse scenario.....be happy and think of the future success now!!! I am confident that you will get a good college..., and even if not, then also you will get success...but the question is ---Are you confident or your fear of failure is blocking your success?

My 2paise:

There is no point cribbing at this point of time. Remember, most of the IIMs had released there selection criteria before hand. Even last year, IIM K followed the system of shortlisting based on board exam scores and grad performance. If people had issues that point of time, maybe then such a discussion would be justified. Now the whole thread looks like the efforts of people frustrated about not getting calls, rather than focusing on unfair selection processes.

But at this point of time, its best to look ahead. I see people abusing CAT/XAT and every other exam possible and the people responsible to admissions, on various forums and even friends on facebook. I see a thread about filing a PIL against IIMs for unfair selection procedures.

What people dont realize, if the same people going around making a big noise about everything had actually gotten calls, they wouldn't have cared if someone else had raised the same points. Its all about frustration and how you deal about it.

Its time to rise up about petty arguments about the same. Focus on the coming year and how you can achieve your dream. By making a fuss about everything, you end up undermining the efforts of people who have gotten calls this year. They dint slack around, they dint get any preference. They did put in hard work and that paid off.

Complaining about not doing well in boards isn't the solution. I am pretty sure no one told us NOT to do well at that point of time. We just took stuff for granted and now are repenting. Making a huge fuss about it is not going to change anything.

What the eff is this, LADIES? A thread for cribbing about what you cannot change and spreading gloom? If this were the army, you'd have been asked to clean everyone's toilets and run 20 miles everyday with a 10 kilo weight on your shoulders for posting this. Get it together!

Rightly said Apurv....

Guys, I repeat... We have just about 8 months to go b4 the next season starts.... Why dont we use this thread to share our preparation plans and discuss ways to overcome the shortcomings we feel we have?

Leverage on our strong points... Thats the best way to increase our chances...

Like my idea? Then please help build up a group..... (Something like the Underdogs Team)..... Can be done...... ryt?

Exams to come.... As follows:

CAT
XAT
FMS
JMET
SNAP
IIFT
NMAT
MH-CET
IRMA
MICA

And the big baap of all..... GMAT!

There will be enough chances in the coming months to emerge out of the average skin.... Lets not waste time and instead let focus on what we have....

Cheers!!!!
