I have heard only good things about this school. But unfortunately, I haven't been able to interact with an Indian alum.
Has anyone been able to catch hold of a Warwick alumini and get first hand info about the school, placements, course structure and location?
Hi Guys,
Hope this thread is alive !!
I could manage to talk to couple of Warwick alumnus fom India and all the findings are ,
1. One of the best facilities in UK , both indoor and outdoor
2. Best fit for people who have experience for more than 6-7 years and are well versed with management responsibilities
3. Reputation wise its stands out next to LBS/OXbridge
4. Career placement - I hope i dont need to elaborate on this ! we all know about it . Except for the first three the situtation is more or less similar for all schools .
5. Well defined and managed course structure . The last 3 months you are supposed to do a real consulting project in a company either identified by you or through the school
6. Lotsa scope for extra curriculars
Let me know if you guys want any more details . I'll be applying by next week .
My profile - 14 years in IT/Tlecom , cuorrently into consulting , have lmost 9 years of managerial experience
GMAT- 660 (48/34)
EC - Above average
Academics - Below average
I asked the good folks at Warwick how they plan to receive their GMAT and TOEFL scores.
They are actually asking me to send them my original score reports to them, which they will send back to me after confirmation. They say they are not willing to accept score copies being sent in admission packets. Every other college I know in UK is comfortable with accepting reported score copies of GMAT and TOEFL. Yes, we'd have to either report the score through GMAC or ETS...but we may do so if an admit is confirmed.
I am just not comfortable with sending them my originals.
Has anyone else faced this problem?
Cheers!

But, isnt there a soft copy of official score? Infact, i only have soft copy, there is no hard copy with me 😃
Something similar at my end . They asked me to send hardcopies of transcripts (original or certified by notary) and this is something I ddidn't understand either . All other schools that I've applied or applying just need the scanned copy to be uploaded . The GMAT score I had sent through GMAC while I wrote the GMAT . But are they asking you hard copy or a scanned ones will do ?

Hey stratrekker
If you have original transcripts, you should find no problem getting the photocopies notorised. personally, I know some schools which insist on hard copies. Porbably warwick is one such school.

Hi Startrekker,
I've also got an admit @ Durham MBA for 2011-12 session.
How do you rate Durham?
I got multiple admits in UK b-schools for 2010 intake.. but I deferred them.. as the UK Economy was in bad shape.. still confused about the same.. as the scenario is more or less the same... Dunno.. lets see.
Have you made-up your mind for Durham? And what other schools r u applying to?
Thx,
Dr Saurabh.

Hi Saurabh,
Glad to see your post . Have read through the entire thread of yours for 2010-2011 admits . After having gone through the blogs and from opinion of multiple people in the blog and my industry, I decided to apply for Durham as a backup option . My most important criteria is quality of education, location and networking opportunity . There are many schools in the same league as I find from my own research like Aston, Bath,Henley etc. But in this league I find Durham is the best value for money and I rate it best among these . However economist ranking rated Henley and Bath quite high (above tire 1 schools) this year .
Since surprisingly I got a conditional admit from Durham with 10 days of my application , I dont intend to apply any other school in the same league (Does not really make sense to have multiple admits in the same league , with almost same fee structure , quality of education etc.) . They have asked GMAT >600 this time and IELTS too . I think it was not the same last year . The other two schools I have applied are Manchester and Warwick . Awaiting decisions . In case I get a dinge from both of them, then I'll most likely join Durham .
What about you ? I guess you were exploring indian schools too. Did you write your GMAT ?
Cheers

Hi Startrekker,
Well..last year also some schools had asked for a GMAT (600).. they were Strathclyde, Leeds & Bath. IELTS was Mandatory for all schools.
Yes, I'm exploring Asian schools (including the Indian counterparts) as well. Still I need to write the GMAT exam.. tentatively I'll be writing it in Dec.
Aren't you applying to the Asian schools (NUS, NTU, HKUST, ISB etc)?
Hi Puyz,
I am thinking to apply for Warwick business school Fall 2011...
GMAT 650/5.0 WE- 3.5 years..
ECA-Decent..

Thanks a lot Praveen
How is Warwick for general management role aspirants?
Also, lemme add the inevitable questions you may face, how is the current job scenario?
Hi
I am sure you are aware that it is a one year course, hence emphasis is given on overall development rather specific concentrations.
The strategy and operations courses are pretty strong in WBS.
The visa rules have changed again so I dont think that you should consider the job scenario in selecting your business schools. (UK specific)
Having said that, I must emphasize that the Personal & Career development team at WBS try supporting the cohort in any way possible.
Hope it answers some of your concerns!
