hi! i guess u are plannin to go to uk for higher studies with a sufficient amt of work ex coz all gud universities thr require work ex. no idea about the differences bw the msc finance etc degree as compared to mba . as far as recognition of degrees is concerned im sure degrees from gud universities are recognised.. a friend of mine is plannin to go to uk for higher studies too(without work ex but loads of cash 😁
try checkin out the websites related to education in london.
c ya 😃 😁 😁

Hey!

The best place you can go to for info on studying in Britain is any British council library. They have education counsellors and tons of info abt the various schools and the programs they offer.

If you can't get to a Council library, check out the educationuk.com website. It has a search program that can help you find the schools that offer the programs you're looking for. After you find the schools, you can go their websites, find contact info for the department you're interested in and get in-depth info about the program.

From the little that I know about marketing degrees in the U.K, I believe that the MSc degree is a little more theoretical and focused in its approach. And what Nisha said was right, any MBA program worth its salt anywhere in the world will look for work ex. But Msc/ MA programs do not seem to require any work ex. They do, however, pay a great deal of attention to your acads.

Hope the info helps!

Clueless.

hey buddy

hey buddy

i have done quite some research abt study in the UK..

first of all...MBA or MSc... the difference is, while MBA is more of a general management degree, MSC are more specialised...

the Difference between MBA and MSC Management is that... while MBA is the ultimate thing, MSC Management is just a bridge course, especially for those who want to change streams, for eg..from science to business...

i dont really know abt the viability of a MSc marketing degree there.. i was told by my advisor that "in the UK, indians are perceived to be better at analytical skills while the phirangs are better at interpersonal skills"... which is why for us, from job point of view in the UK, a Finance degree will be a better choice than a marketing one... besides, the three biggest companies in the UK are all banks... Barclays, Natwest and Duetche Bank...

for London... the ideal universities to pursue finance(since i have concentrated my research from a finance degree pov) are LSE and the City University...

the other good universities for finance are manchester, warwick and oxford.. though they are not in london...

i hope the info is of help...please keep in touch
samarth

hey smarth
i am interested in the finance degree too. can you tell me about universities like leeds, strathclyde, warwick and bath? they do gigure on the list of the best b schools in the uk. also isnt london expensive? then how to manage the expenses part? scholarships?

hi buddy
sorry for replying so late

let me take the univs in question one by one
warwick- excellent university..excellent placement records-an uemployment rate of less than 2% for postgraduates (as claimed by their prospectus).

strathclyde-ecellent faculty...good industrial interface...best univ in scotland.. added advantage is abt 2 years work permit in scotland (please confirm, though) after ur pg degree.

leeds and bath-no clue

since u have warwick on your agenda, i suggest go for manchester, too... but this univ requires a GMAT score...

also, please could u give me ur academic profile so that i can assist you further.

take care
Samarth

as for the funding...well, it is really expensive with very few scholarships available...though easy education loans available..

hi guys..mayb dis is d rong place to post my query..but pls indulge me i am a literature student at delhi university and interested in media management..took the cat basically for mica..but also applied to the uk for some courses dat i liked...warwick university for MA Creative and Media enterprise, Bournemouth for MA Broadcast and Film management, Stirling university for Msc media management....hav received a conditional offer from bournemouth already....need to take the decision now...i.e b4 25th feb....now i am xpecting a call from mica..but bournemouth has an excellent media school..

Hey..
I see that the last reply to this thread has been quite some time back.. but just recntly went for one of those uk fairs and was quite keen on cardiff and leeds.
No work ex- but apparently, cardiff has a couple of vacant slots for freshers.
Leeds- am looking at a course in accounting and finance.

Any idea on how good are these insitutes for mba / finance? And what are the job prospects like back in India itself???

I saw some mention about LSE, Manchester etc.. How does one go about applying for these? Have got great CBSE acad records.. and B.com's also been 75% +.. am in final year now..
pls do reply..

Thanks loads.

Hi,

I am from an IT (B.E - E.T.C.E) background and have close to 3.5 years of work experience in some of the top MNCs in India.

I am contemplating a MBA from Cranfield UK. I found this more or less an optimised choice if a correct balance of quality vs cost is to be struck.

It would be great if anyone can throw some light on the kind of job opportunities post Cranfield. Work permit in UK I heard are pretty difficult and would like to hear more on this. It may help me coming to a final decision.
