I am excited to know that there are already 3 Indians in the Vlerick MBA 2010-2011 batch.I too have been offered admission for the 2010-11 MBA programme.I got my result on Dec22 and so enjoying the holidays now 😃
Itz great to know that Economist ranked Vlerick at 10 though FT ranked it at 75...do u know French/Dutch? I am thinking of learning some basic stuff in French...When did u get ur result?

Hey Muhil,
Good to hear that u ave got an admit. Yes, we are all very much pumped up to start the year at Belgium (However one of us is waiting for the result of his Kellogs Application).
I was one of the first few applicants and got my admit in Oct. We are all lucky to have got an admit from this prestigious institute. This has been my dream college since a coupla years. However, they have increased the fees this time which is an additional burden to deal with.
There may be some differences in rankings based on different criteria of the ranking body but I am sure of one thing...we'l get world class education and a very good opportunity to procure an excellent job.

Yes, I know a little french and am trying to build upon it. You may join some French course (prefer Alliance Francais if its in ur city). Dutch courses are rare in India and it is also more difficult to learn Dutch. Could u plz share ur background, location and profile?

good to know that it is ur dream coll..to be frank i did not apply with gr8 hope as I couldn't get an admit from TiasNimbas Business School and RSM...also my work exp just met the min. requirement and I had no exp. working or living abroad...Vlerick was my third attempt and I am happy I made it 😃 btw I was not interviewed & I believe u too were not interviewed
I couldn't get a scholarship(thought my scholarship essay was slightly better than my motivation essays) need to pay the commitment fee by Jan 19.
I am working in TCS Chennai...very glad to know that u too work in TCS 😃 will have 3+ work exp by September 2010..2007 pass out...BE Mech from PSG Tech,Coimbatore..

M also a 2007 passout(although m a Civil Engineer)...no onsite yet for me 2 ;)
French xposure at ILP as well...besides me u r the only person I know who got an admit with such less work ex.
Nways wat was ur GMAT/AWA and when did u apply.
I believe my admit was mainly coz of my strong EC's, I am a National level Squash player and a former State Squash captain. I have received a scholarship from Delhi Govt for excellence in Hindi language.

Hi,
I am too looking to apply for Vlerick as i heard some good credentials about it from alumni and current students . I would be doing so in January.
I just wanted to know what was your overall score and section cutoff in GMAT. Also , do you have any idea as to what they might be looking at in order to offer scholarships? Also what is the total tuition fee for 2010-11 batch? The website is still quoting only last years fee.

Hello Arun,
Yes, Vlerick is a prestigious college and has a world class education. However, depending on ur needs research for the best option viable for u. Apply as soon as u can for a better chance.
Well, the average GMAT for the Indian students I know comes around 680/690. I would say a sectional percentile of above 50 in each section would keep u above the danger line. Have u given the GMAT? If yes, I can give my personal comments on ur chances of admit given ur background and score.
The scholarship is granted to people with good GMAT + excellent schol essay + work background!
The total tuition is 27500 euros (I believe the website gives u the correct figure). Please feel free to contact us in case u need any more info..

Hey thanks for the insights....no i have not taken my GMAT yet...I am takin it on 25 Jan 2010. But I guess i can complete the other sections and send my application before and then get a final verdict once my GMAT scores have been submitted.
BTW about my profile....I am an engineer, I have also done my MBA from ICFAI....post which I have 3 years and 11 months of managerial experience in HR in sectors like "real estate & construction, pharma and chemicals".....Since I am lookin at a two universities in Australia also....I took my IELTS as well and I scored 8.5/9. So any guesses on how bright my chances would be with a moderate GMAT score???
BTW what is the batch size this time...as they generally claim that it is only 50 students and of that there are 30 plus nationalities....but u were also saying that there were already 3-4 Indian students.

Sorry for the late reply.
Well you should have a justification as to why you want to do a MBA again as many of your courses will be same. Many universities discourage this. However, Vlerick may not be stringent and in my personal opinion you stand a good chance with GMAT>660 and a decent AWA. I do not think that IELTS will play a significant part in your application.
Apart from the score, your ec's and achievements would play a great role. Let me know in case you have any doubts and we will discuss over a call. Btw have you weighted all the advantages and disads of doing a MBA again? It will help if you get a clear vision and research about the job prospects in your 'area of expertise' post MBA.
The batch of 2008-09 had arnd 60 students, 2009-10 has 80-90 students whereas in our batch 90-100 students are expected. Scholarships are not very good. I have not come across any person(2010 admits who has got a scholarship even with good GMAT).

Your profile looks good. However, if you could list down your ec's, achievements, work ex profile and AWA, we could give you a more acurate idea of your chances.
Schols are stringent as i mentioned in the above post. I know people with GMAT>720 who have not got a schol. Ur GMAT+schol essay are a major factor for scholarship determination. Let me know in case of any further doubts.

I had chance to meet representative from Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School at Top mba fair in bangalore .
He told me that average GMAT score is 660/ work ex is 6 yrs / Cost of Tuition + accommodation would be around 23 lakhs / they have very good loan and scholarship options .
Hi All... Congrats to all those who have an admit from Vlerick. I am applying to the college now and seek some help with the application. I am not sure how long should the answers to the 9 motivational questions be. Can you please suggest how long should they be and how long did you guys write...

Hi Nikhil,
As mentioned in the application form, the motivational essays should be short and concise. You should not allow the essay box to scroll. "Please limit your answers to the boxes provided without allowing them to scroll and avoid repetition in what you write".

I encountered a problem in the essay section.I was unable to edit a few essays that I had saved.
I contacted Vlerick and they asked me to send the essays in a word document.The max. word limit in that case should be between 200 to 250.

Congrats for getting admit ! can u share ur profile pls .I have not yet started my application to Vlerick . I will have to start soon .
in the round table workshop , around 8 schools representatives spoke about their school for around 15 min each. I noted down only imp details such as scholarship avg GMAT score loan etc about each school . do not remember specific details much .
All I can say is I have got a very good impression about vlerick after I spoke to Vlerick representative .

I know 4 guys(Indians) who have been admitted for the 2010-11 session. Many more have been waitlisted. There must be 2-3 more admits who are not active on FB/Pagalguy!
