Wondering if anyone has been or has known of a similar situation :

I am almost at the very end of my 6-year stint in the US on a H1. I am planning to apply this fall to US and Indian schools.
Since I only have about 6 months left, I was wondering how this would affect my post-MBA employment in the US. Is it absolutely essential that one has at least a year left on H1 when one graduates? Does anyone know of companies sponsoring GC directly if the 6 years have already been used? (Of course, this is assuming all else falls into place). I am hoping to get a F1 with OPT, so that at least the first year post-MBA is taken care of. However, I am worried about the part after that.

I do want to carefully consider this aspect before deciding to invest in my application process.
