Getting a free opinion on a public forum is good, but business school comparisons are not allowed on pagalguy.com. It would be better if you message the students of these institutes to find out more and then make an informed decision.
Adding a few more questions
Does the MBA degree from Symbi help over a diploma from IIT-Kgp ???
Is having a mix of students an advantage over just engg???

City wise Pune is definitely better than Kharagpur .....
brand IIT is no match....
i think it wud have been more valid had the comparison been between sibm and vgsom rather than scmhrd.as the latter is a more specialised institute.
Just a clarification. VGSOM also awards a degree not a diploma. IMHO please take a long term opinion not a short term placement based opinion. An MBA is going to stick with you for life.
I feel such comparison of colleges is totally baseless. it totally depends on what u want to do nd how will the insti help you. for example a person who wants to continue in technical domain may rate iits as the best but a person interested in advertising might say mica is the best someone for finance may say sumthin else. the bottomline is college selection depends a lot on what your profile is and what u want to do in life, not just what u read in the b-school rankings in the magazines

Dude .. I usually woudnt have commented on a direct comparison thread. However, I am being forced to comment after seeing some of the comments here.
Just want to clarify - VGSOM (or for that matter any IIT B school) is NOT a specialized insititute.
Even VGSOM has Finance, Marketing,Ops etc. and trust me - They are good at each one of them.
So, let the guy decide based on relevant parameters like - academic rigour, industry interface, faculty, infrastructure etc.

U really need to get your facts right about IITs....VGSOM is one of the best B-schools in the country and has years after years it has got great response from the corporates.
PS: Stop the comparision. Its against the rule of the forus(as mentioned by KAA)
ok let me jump in on this
brand name -- iit anyday (india and abroad)
location -- scmhrd
specialisation --- vgsom is very good in systems , finance
scmhrd in hr , marketing
again the specialisation part is subjective to your opinion but if you want to go for finance than vgsom is better anyday but for hr or marketing its scmhrd.
life--- scmhrd loads of girls , iit not so much..lol
scmhrd be prepared to slog heavily and wake up early...iit no clue about vgsom but sjsom life is ok less slog than scmhrd
also specialisations like the erp and all are avaliable in scmhrd but they are just courses i mean if you do erp there u will know what is erp like a subject but u dont become erp specialist
