CAT : 97.32, both sections 93+
10th : 87 %
12th : 89 %
BTech Mechanical : 6.5 / 10
Work-ex : 32 months with L&T; Power
First they showed us a short presenation on VGSoM and life @ campus, took few questions then sent us to GDs...
GD was a case discussion.
Short case containing a simple management problem
5 mins to read, 15 mins to discuss, 5 mins to write down summary
they stressed on the point that the written summary should be concise and clear, since they were looking for good written communication skills
write it fast since you only get 5 mins
the discussion itself went fairly smooth, some loud noises here and there, but as long as the group stays on topic and everyone speaks properly it should be ok.
they actually instructed beforehand not to make it fishmarket.
2 people on panel for GD, same took PI
PI started off with first 4 going on for half an hour each.
then when my turn came it became shorter.
Started with tell me abt yourself.
When i got to the point of where i work, asked more details about my role in my workplace....explained in detail....
some technical questions about my work domain followed, again i answered in detail
then they asked why my grad acads were low, i had prepared for this question so answered well, told them i was slightly distracted by extra currics in college environment....
then they asked what other calls i have, and encouraged me to go to NITIE
dunno if that's a good or bad sign...
then they finished by asking me if i want to ask them anything...
was over in 15 mins.
am kinda pprehensive coz others before me were grilled for 30 mins
Basically, they were trying to judge that i know what i'm doing when it came to my work domain and my work profile, technically as well as managerially, they seemed satisfied with my answers so didnt probe too deep.
If you come off as a serious & mature candidate who knows what he's doing, you'll be fine.....
Tip : apart from me and another guy, most people were from IT background, and they were being grilled, so go prepared with your work, your projects, your clients, etc....
Verdict : mostly will convert
A lot of candidates are finding it difficult to download the e-brochure from pagalguy.I've uploaded the same in scribd and here's the link for the same

customer grievances is not available for few days. customer queries are not answered. important customers are threatening the manager that they will leave this company and join the competitor.

GD/Case study Topic : It was something about a employee who works on temporary payroll for a company and after 4 years of experience he is hired by the company on contract based process. The employee felt that he would be enjoying the same kind of perks and payroll as he used to on temporary based service, but now he is treated like a new employee, his salary is also reduced , fixed working hours instead flexible hours he used to have and so on...Because of this, he is demotivated and can not focus on the work...so what that employee should do now and what the company should do to avoid such kind of scenarios in the future???
GD/Case study Experience :great...No fish market...everyone contributed almost equally...

Interview experience :Great interview...Still somehow I dont understand as interview lasted for 20 min.,but after only 12-15 min.,my actual interview was over and then we were talking about the selection process at other IIMs and how they manage and all...So had they decided me to reject or something from the beginning only after the GD......Do they have any cut off for gd tht if someone is below tht level he/she is out of the league...???
Other Miscellaneous Details :None
Overall Experience :GD was Average...PI was Awesome...
Advice to future aspirants: Dont be nervous...people taking interviews are very helpful and wont make you feel uncomfortable at any point of time...
@ layadalja,
You will be marked upon your performances in both GD and PI ..
If one aspect was not satisfactory, the other has to be good enough to balance it...
Speaking less in a gd is not bad at all as long as you talk sense and put in valid points ..
ATB .. 😃
very contrasting rounds
Had a woNderful GD ,Contributed a lot
but then in the interview i heard the interviewer say it a lot of times that my Computer science is zero even though i was asked nothing from the acads.
have given many interviews but never heard an interviewer criticize or say something like this.
I just hope that it was a delibrate ploy to induce stress
apart from tht the interview was fine , talked about my research project and how it could be continued in iit kgp.
Tips for freshers: Dont get bogged down by 5-10 min interviews , most of the freshers had tht, brush up your acads very nicely and specially for CS people ,study about the latest technologies and the hardware aspects .

That indeed was an stress interview for you :)
Sometimes,it happens when the interviewer really play these tricks when the entire interview process goes monotonous.I guess they must have checked your other skills during the GD and so they just wanted to check your patience. The stress interview is a good process to check the same.
I believe you did a great job 😃
do we need to carry any reference letters?
its no where mentioned but we have given two names under references in the form when we applied..

Hi Seniors,
I have a query to make. I was awarded a trophy in my current profession, but there was no certificate for it. While applying, I had mentioned that in my SOP. Now what proof should I carry for it?????

Don't need to worry ...
If there's no certificate it's not your fault.. Just tell the interviewers if they ask ... Give proper explanations and logical answers , they will be convinced by you ..:)
