Hi puys.. couldnt find a thread on vgsom gd pi, lemme know if there already is one.
will post my experience in an hour
today about 60 ppl were called who were then divided into 4 panels of 15 each. After a ppt on VGSOM we were sent for case study.
i was in panel 4 our case was on Apollo opening high end medical facilities in delhi. we had to discuss "commercialization of healthcare - gud or bad"
as expected from a group of 15 there was utter chaos. but as 7-8 ppl from 15 kept quiet things were stiil manageable and i cud make 3-4 decent entries.
but had to keep a check on speaking too loudly as i was sittin next to one of the moderators. overall a gud gd for me.
then we were told our interviews wud be according to our sl. no. from 1 to 15. as luck wud hav it my no. ws 15 had to wait fr 2 hours before being called for interview.
Interview: 2 guys in d panel : old guy (O) really old guy (R) and me (ME)
O: why do want to do MBA
ME: (10 mins of well prepared crap)
O: (flips thru my sop nd certificated really fast) u like Amitav Ghosh??
ME:(:( he had to pick this guy from my list of 6 fav authors) well umm hmmm
O: why do u like his works?
ME: (started throwing some crap) he builds his plot meticulously (cant believe i said that)
O: (looks very happy) go on
ME: (more crap for next 10 mins)
piece of advice: nothin makes a bengali happier than listenin to the praise of a fellow bengali
O: wat do u think about most of the gud indian students goin abroad to work
ME: the trend is changin as indian mnc's are also payin well
R: whos ur fav industrialists
ME: ratan tata
R: why??
ME: ethics nd related crap
R: wat bout reliance?
ME: they r doin better than tata's but lack ethics nd values
R: why do say reliance is doin better? on wat parameter?
ME: makin more money (i shudnt hav said that bcoz R suddenly stopped smiling)
Another Advice: kharagpur guys hate money minded ppl or ppl who go abroad
O: if tomoro u bcom a manger and political party asks u fr money
ME: NO (loudly and as sincerely as possible)
R: if he threatens to stop ur company and assume he is politically strong
ME: keeping in mind the welfare of my employees i wud pay him
R:any questions?
ME: vague question on inviting more companies to kgp
Overall pretty gud except the reliance nd money minded blunder

Also plz put a brief profile of urs...will be easy to relate later on... Like Rank, Graduation, Extracurrics and all...

the pi went on for roughly 20-25 mins. they didnt ask me too many questions but asked a couple of open ended questions like why mba plus i had to talk about amitav ghosh for 10 minutes.

frankly i thot i wud be the only one with a decent profile here but was amazed to find the place full of people from dce, nsit, pec, jamia.
i guess vgsoms reputation is improving.

boss can u tell the gd duration...cause 15 is quite a large no. for gd...there shud b atleast 20 mins...
any idea wht others were asked... i mean how much technical or workex stuff??

gd was for 25-30 mins. dont worry about gettin a chance to speak as moderators made sure everyone spoke. technical was asked only to some freshers. for ppl with work ex they focussed on their job but in some cases they did ask about financial fundas eg. equity, sensex, budget deficit etc.
for any other queries lets continue in the previous thread as suggested by sumitro.
