Hi

I searched for this term 'PMO' and I could not find any results. So I'm creating a new thread. Please forgive me if there is any thread related to PMO

I have 8 yrs exp in Testing. In my company I can opt for career change and currently we have opening in Project Management Office

I'm really interested in this role but I'm still not sure if its really worth to shift my career from testing

Responsibilities include tracking kpis, metrics, generating reports, analysis of remedy data etc

Could anyone in this forum please help me? My queries are

1. What kind of career this PMO has? otherwise what kind of role I can expect after 5 yrs, 10 yrs etc. I would like to know the hierarchy in this role
2. Will PMP and ITIL certification add any value to it?
3. Though no job is secured, can I expect job security on par with testing? particularly considering current economic situation as many companies are marching towards cost cutting and I'm not sure if this will affect PMO roles

I need to respond to my manager as soon as possible as the openings are limited

I'm relying on pagalguy to take a decision. Please let me know your inputs

Thanks
Visha

Hi

Will suggest to go for this opportunity 😃 It is better in terms of long term career potential when compared to Testing.

Coming to the queries,i will take up the last 2 :)
2. Yes, they will certainly a lot of value. Infact, PMP is a must at this stage. :)
3. Yes once again. Much more secured in comparison to testing with much better future prospects.

Cheers!
