Hi..Need advice for the beginners like me. How is TN state board material for History subject? Has anyone finished it. Mrunal web has pdf of it and suggests pdf will suffice to build the basics..Although I know NCERT(mainly old) and Bipan Chandra are considered standard.. Is it advicable to go for TN state board book or skip it and go for only NCERT.. Time is a major issue. Preparing only most basic stuff in history for prelims-2015... Any experienced suggestion on this.. Thank you..

Basic numeracy is an integral component of CSAT II. Almost every year, 15-20 questions appear from this topic. This is also one of the most dreaded topics for aspirants. The sheer bulk of syllabus might be intimidating.
Here is how to approach this topic.
First of all, there are around 15-20 chapters in this topic out of which few are highly important and a few are irrelevant. Here is the list of must do topics:
Must do
1. Number systems - Concepts on LCM and HCF, Even-odd numbers, basic divisibility rules
2. Algebra - Linear equations, Quadratic equations (You can skip inequalities)
3. Ratio and proportions
4. Percentages
5. Profit and Loss
6. Average - Including mixtures and alligations
7. Time Speed and Distance
8. Time and work
9. Sets and venn diagrams
Important topics
10. Partnerships
11. Interests
12. Permutations and Combinations
13. Sequences and Series
14. Clocks and Calendars
Not so important topics
15. Geometry
16. Probability
17. Area and perimeters
18. Volume and Surface area of solid figures
19. Statistics
The must do 9 topics will garner you 70-80% of marks in basic numeracy. There was hardly any question from not so important topics. UPSC won't ask formula based questions. Usually, the questions asked are logic based and hence there is no question from Geometry or area & Perimeters.
You can do the most important 9 chapters in 15 days and this will give you immense confidence.

Hello guys, can anyone please suggest me a good book for CSAT paper-1? I mean, the paper of General Studies, etc and not aptitude? Thanks in advance.
Coaching as backup! Please pour some wisdom. Many facing same doubts or issues.
DO RESPOND 😞 ur reply would be very helpful 😃

(kindly note that I quit my job 2 years back for preparing civil services exams. Only 5 months back, I appeared in a few bank po or other govt exams).
Some issues. I am sure most of you could relate with me or at least would have given some thought regarding the same.
Have quit my IT Mnc job 2 years back with 1 year experience. Now, have appeared for a few bank po exams with no success, missed by 5-10 marks in some exams like IBPS it officer, nicl ao etc. Narrow miss. But now without the changed pattern, aptitude part has lost relevance in civil services exam.
(using Mobile, kindly excuse spelling issues, auto spell check issues grhhh)
So, I am thinking rather to go for coaching/teaching as a part time job or even as a backup. Would that be a wise decision? The nature of job of a bank po is hectic. I know it would be difficult to prepare alongside. Also, with aptitude removed or made qualifying, preparing for bank po or SSC would not help me in civil services prep. Moreover, they are entirely different exams now.
So, considering this, would it be a wise decision to go for teaching as a part time or backup.
Am feeling that financial independence is essential and one should not be depending upon parents at the age of 25. Please do pour your Windom or opinion. It would definitely help me.
**Also, would shifting or going to Delhi be a good option? Now, currently residing in Lucknow. But, high cost of living, room issues, food issues, tough life there as I heard as some people cheat innocent looking guys or idiots like me 😃 anyway, these must be minor issues.
KINDLY RESPOND AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Need varied responses and experiences :-)
Please suggest the best book for CSAT Paper-II.
hurrah!!!finally the notification is out...
