kisi ka ECONOMICS optional hai kya ??? 😛

Hey all,

I am a 2010 b tech graduate and have worked for a big software company for 2.5 years. This September, due to some family commitments, I resigned from my job and currently I am staying with my mother in a small town of Uttar Pradesh.

After a month of deliberation, I have started preparing for UPSC 2014 a few days back (for ease, take 1 November as the actual start date). I am sitting with books and devoting 8-10 hours daily. I have also decided on History as my optional subject.

My questions are :

1. With just 9.5 months to go for prelims, is it too late to start the preparations for UPSC 2014? Am I having unrealistic expectations from myself? I have heard people saying that preparations must start ATLEAST 12 to 15months before prelims. Have I made conditions extraordinarily difficult for me?

2. I have started reading newspaper from 1 November. Same with Civil Services Chronicle, Frontline, Yojana, Kurukshetra (started with November issues of all). Do I necessarily need to go back to old issues of all of the above? Can anyone over here help me in guessing the months bracket (eg October to June) from where the probability of asking the current affairs is the maximum?

My pros: Apart from staying with my mother, I don't have any other big responsibility. So, I have all the 24 hours of the day at my disposal. I am good at academics and have a reasonable IQ.

My cons: Not going to join any coaching. Being in a small town of UP, not many serious players for UPSC. So, my preparation would be pretty much in isolation; self study and relying on internet for help.

Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to clarify my situation. Thanks for reading. Please pour in with your answers. No trolling or leg pulling please.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Need a suggestion regarding magazines. CST or PD or Chronicle? And from what I have heard Yojna and Kurukshetra are also needed but selective reading should suffice. So how is The Gist of Hindu Kurukshetra Yojna monthly magazine of UPSC Portal.

If there is one APP that i hate the most on chrome..that's FEEDLY !!!!! Man,every hour i get around 50 notifications of Feeds that i have subscribed to......past one year have been helllllllllllll......why is there so much happening's around the world.........

More than anything else....i seriously wish that i clear CSM this yr. itself....i cannot cope with the 3rd degree torture that is FEEDLYYYYYY !!!!!!! 😞

Hello everyone!!

How is preparation going on?? I think somebody has just started, somebody has already gone through half of syllabus and so on........
So what approach u people are following for the pre. I mean NCERT,Notes,Ref books or all together?
Subject wise or all the subjects together???
More emphasis on which subject etc.......
Welcome only serious comments!!👍👍

Anyone doin BIPIN CHANDRA "INDIA`S STRUGGLE FOR INDEPENDENCE " these days ????

dont think too much... 9 months are enough ... dont rush to these magazine things all of a sudden... start with NCERT.. The HIndu...and be sure about which mains subject u wana take.. why have u choosen history.. be sure to stick with it.. take a printout of syllabus and last year exam papers... start with that..... kruk and yojana are imp to write mains... only after u are into that writing thing.. then take out them.. no need to go for previous year issues.. only check those things which u are reading like international news and have a google on them if they are creating trouble in understanding.. rest i am also an aspirant .. not a civil servant...Keep an eye on SSC CGL 2014 too.. as it can get u a job

All the best guys......Its NOW or Never....!!!!
