See, last year's cutoff was somewhere around 88 percentile... But the last person who got admission in the first councling had 91 percentile in general category...
I do not have the exact placement detais now ( Will share it tomorrow for sure )
but the highest package was 15lkh and min. 4.5lkh.. ( As UBS has a policy of not allowing companies giving below 4.5lkh ).. And the average was somewhere around 6.75lkh.. ( This is rough estimate , I will upload the official data soon )
Regarding the site, See this is a university institute controlled by university authorities. so we don't have much say in it. But we here are more than happy to answer to your queries on pagalguy....

Last year there was quite a big fluctuation in the cutoff percentiles of all the institutes. So look at the last few years cutoff before deciding anything.

We are on our autumn holidays till 10th October. And i guess the office is also closed till then. I will update you about the sale of forms as soon as the break ends as now most of us are at our home.So wait till then.

UBS itself is a brand , and all the trades offered here are really very good. Since i am a MBA GENERAL student so can't comment more on the profiles offered in HR. But will ask some HR students to tell u about the profiles offered.
Talking about weightage given to cat score
85% -- CAT Score
15% -- GD, PI

Please visit the UBS website... the forms for 2012-14 session is been uploaded on the site...
And the last date to summit the completed forms is 29th october..
And do keep one thing in mind... At UBS , if the last date is 29th oct. at 5 PM. . then they won't accept any form after five o' clock. They are very strict for this.
Last year also some forms were rejected because of late submissions... So do send the filled form on time.

I am little sceptic about the way admission process is handled here? They are giving just 24 days to fill and submit the form other goverment college also gives ample time. again the shortlist and gd/pi process is done very late.why?
do the authority do not want to get more applicant?
and i think due to this reason UBS is loosing very good opportunity.
and i read somewhere that placement is also dipping. is that current and please provide the current placement status.
also provide the work -ex ratio of current batch as i have currently 2 yr ex.

Life at ubs
We have classes right from 8 in the morning. Discipline is the key word here. Even if you are half a minute late, doesn't matter , you would not be allowed to enter into the class. Classes go on till 4, sometimes 4:40 , in the evening. We have a small sports ground in front of our department so you can see cricket matches going on after the classes by the sports crazy students.
You want to study. NO PROBS!!! A.C JOSHI library is one of the biggest library of north india is just 2 minutes away from the department . And we have a separate library for UBS only with almost all business and general newspapers, magazines, journals present there. Go with your laptops, put it there on the table, connect to the wifi and do what you want till 8 PM. (It's the closing time of our library, but A.C JOSHI library's reading room is open 24*7)
Do expect to get assignments, presentations which will eat most of your evening. By the way , Chandigarh is a very beautiful city. So we do go out occasionally for dinner and night outs. Hostel life is pure entertaining and fun. We do visit our senior's rooms late night just to discuss anything, i mean anything.
We have different clubs here like Business Club, Alumni Clubs etc. So its work also go on side by side.
It's only been 3 months here at UBS , but we are done with 3 events :-
1.Arivatsu:- It was a full day event. It was divided in 3 parts. (i) Dalal Street (ii) Selling Spree (iii) Treasure Hunt
2.Tantrix:- A marketing quiz
3.Sports Extravaganza:- Cricket, TT , CAROM etc...
Now coming to the admission process, See all government institutes have their set rules and regulations. And we have no say in this. So there is no point discussing about this. It's a matter under the administration and let it be there. ON our side , i promise you that we will be with you here on pagalguy till you enter in the classroom for your first lecture here at UBS.
And frankly speaking , we do not loose any student because of this. UBS is a brand in itself and its huge alumni base and the level of students here speaks for itself. A serious UBS aspirant will definitely wait for it irrespective of the time it takes.
Coming on to placements, All the colleges went through a rough patch during the 2008-09 period and same was the case with UBS. But this year , UBS came back really very strongly with Max. Package Offered 15lkh. and an average of around 6.85 lkh. And talking into consideration the vast alumni base of more than 40 years, placement is not a real concern for us. The companies which came here varied from banks, IT companies etc. I will post the name of the companies which visited the campus for final placements later.

Almost All the students were placed in the previous batch with Max. Package of 15lkh. and Avg. is 6.85lkh. No company with package less than 4.5lkh is allowed for final placement. See UBS has its own placement cell and all the students getting more than 60% in first two sem. are allowed to sit... Others are still given a chance to sit in the Centralised Placement Cell of Punjab University provided they accept somewhat low package... But students with more than 60% need not to worry about anything.
Yes we have OPERATIONS as specialization but as minor. See, In MBA GENERAL, we have to choose a major and a minor subject in second year. We can choose either FINANCE or MARKETING for majors, but you can opt for OPERATIONS as minor subject.
Total fees is somewhere around 60k for two years. It includes the book fund ( you will get books of all subjects ) , examination fees and all other dues...

UBS do not release specialization wise median salaries. So can't comment much on this. I have discussed about overall placements in earlier posts.
Talking about cutoffs.. Barring the last year when the cutoffs of all the colleges came down , UBS generally had cutoff in the range of 90-95 percentile.. Last year its cutoff was somewhere around 87.. But do expect higher cutoff this year for UBS because of a very good placement report and the inclination seen during this year admission process by the students..( Last year students having ranks till 215 got admission but this year all seats were filled till 130 rank)...
