"What was the highest package offered by your institute?"

Is that the first question you ask when you consider joining a B-School?

Stop! and consider this...

What if you asked questions like “How are you helping students become more employment ready than just preparing them for their first job?” or “How are your students who graduated a year ago doing in their career?”

In today's highly competitive scenario, as you prepare for MBA, you are coached to 'answer' questions. But, through this Live chat, we would be exploring some important questions that you should ask the B-School you aspire to join- so that you make informed decisions.

The chat would be conducted by Prof Vinita Johorey, Assistant Professor, FIIB and Ex-Educomp Counselor. An MBTI certified professional and a trained counselor, Prof Vinita has over sixteen years of work experience across Sales, HR and Counselling. Prof Vinita specializes in helping students undertake self exploratory exercises where they can assess their strengths and weaknesses and align themselves to their career goals. One of the strong components of this is having an opinion. Read her views on 'How to Express your opinion' at

"Tell me about yourself!" This is the first question that 90% of the recruiters ask at the beginning of an interview. Interestingly, most of the candidates fail to answer this!

What about you? Do you have the clarity of thought to answer this question with confidence?

The IIFM at Bhopal is a one of its kind institution. While the course major is Forest Management, the placement options are varied. Organisations like TERI, State Seed Corporations, Soil Conservation departments recruit regularly from there. Micro Finance Institutions, NGOs and Banks like ICICI and Axis have been a part of placements this year. Various UN bodies and the World Wildlife Fund visit the IIFM to recruit.

The IIFM is a specific, specialist degree and not a generic one like a PGDM. As the name suggests, individuals who wish to pursue a career in fields related to Forestry like Soil Conservation should consider it as an option. But, if you feel that a generalist, broad degree will suit you more, then IIFM is probably not the best fit.

During the live chat we would be discussing questions like 'What all should I say when I am asked to introduce myself during an interview?'

Candidates are often perplexed with "How do I answer questions about my weaknesses?"

Hi I'm Akshat, I just competed my MBA in finance and marketing from Fortune Institute of International Business, please feel free to ask me any questions you have about MBA in general 😃

To handle a case study the first step is to read the study carefully (underline important points while reading) and analyse the details, so that you can draw parallels when you are in a real work situation. At FIIB, we encourage students to work in teams and carry out independent research, after which they collate individual learnings. Having said that, we would need some context to provide you specific answers.

Hey, I'm Tania Koshi, and I recently completed my PGDM course at FIIB, having specialized in Marketing and Operations. I now plan to establish a Wedding Planning business in Delhi over the course of this year, and hope to expand across the country over the next few years. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have in relation with the MBA.

Hi Mam , What was the average and Median Placements last year , Also please let me know about the batch composition .

We are posting a PI tip every 15 mins from now! Stay Tuned and watch out!

Tip 1:

A challenging question that is almost always asked is around weaknesses. Do not camouflage your weaknesses and pretend that you have none. All of us do.

Tip 2:
When asked about your long term goals during an interview, personal goals like "I want to get married" should be kept aside; the question is asked only from a professional perspective and merits a professional response.

Tip3:
During interviews, try not to be funny, it shows a very casual attitude.

Why do you want to do an MBA?
