I've been in touch with a few seniors, they had to say this :
1. The most important thing in interview is to convince the panel, as to why you are so keen in doing the course.
2. Be honest; should you not know something, honestly admit that you do not know.
3. Do not get into arguments with the members of the panel.
4. Should have a little knowledge about the course that you are getting into.
5.Be abreast with current affairs.

Congrats for clearing the written part !
The DAF will be available on the website from the first of Feb/Monday . so dont worry about it.
Also you should know something about the subject you've applied for.
If you've applied for 2 subjects, then you should be able to justify why you've applied for 2 and convince the panel. Also, you should be able to convince which subject is your priority n why. So, think over and have clear thoughts.
the most important fact is you should convince that you actually want to do that particular course...that you really are interested in it...

congrats for clearing the written.
MHA : if its Health : then "Preventive & Social Medicine" by Park n Park.
this is one bible sorts of book for you. there are few important chapters that you need to cover.
If it is Hospital : then no specific book...just internet would suffice.
But definitely you need to know a bit about the subject you've applied for.
Also, be abreast with the latest current affairs.
regarding...MPH...need to find out...will let you know...

well this is what i read on a last year thread on tiss-mha discussion..
i think this would be helpful in preparind for pi:
"well, i talked to 1st year Mha student. acc to him the only thing wich matters 4 selection is to show how keenly u r intrested to do this course. 1 shd b very well prepared 4 questions from acades.
also regardin the schemes started by govt (like National rural health mission)
social issues regardin Health

Well how many have qualified still remains a question...but as far what seniors have said, one particular year 5-7 times the no. of seats and another year about 10 times the no. of seats were called for d interview.
read the previous posts, I've mentioned a book, which though is must for HE, but as seniors say, can be useful in HO also.
yes, surf the net and know little more about HO management. Also be aware of recent news updates n Govt health policies in general.
Though work ex. has an edge, seniors have mentioned that in their batch they have a fair no. of freshers also. So, don't worry about that !

Answers to ur questions:
1)Both master of health administration n master of hospital administration r separate courses.
2)eligibilty is clearly mentioned on the website,plz read the brochure.since u r a medical graduate,ur internship shud be completed.
3)Till last year TISS had 30 marks for work ex but now its changed this year.I cant tell abt next year.
4)the exam is held sumwhere in 2nd week of december,forms r out by october.Exam is in 2 parts: PART 1:common for all programs has Maths.logic,verbal n GK. PART 2:will be specific to the program u applied for.Both MHO n MHA have essay and questions related to the program in PArt 2

I have also appeared and have been selected to attend PI for Hospital Administration,Health Administration & for Public Health.
I have absolutely no idea as to how to start preparing for them.
To Start with I would like to know whats the difference between Public Health & Health Administration.
Apart from convincing the interview panel abt the interest in the course,
Any specific advice and question on
1. Hospital Administration
2. Health Administration
3. Public Health
I will keep you guys posted with any info that i get ......

The pi is generally based on ur biographical sketch and Why Tiss essay.
For Health Administration u shud have knowledge abt the government schemes,their implementatio.My friend was asked 'what is the biggest problem area in ryral health sector' He said Child health and explained it with details,facts.figures n personal experience.

posted my DAF on 22nd feb only, by speed post from kolkata
dont know if they will accept it or not?
on website they have written that they will not allow if DAF is not received by them before deadline.
does anyone have an idea? any past experience. are they very strict? though dont appear so.
Applied for all major exams last year this was first event i made such mistake. was unable to write bio-sketch and statement due to hectic work schedule of medical internship and MAT exam till 7 dec.
