@RoadKillbhai CFA l1 clear ka kuch fayeda ho sakta hai kya for my bro in these interviews ?
there are many people with multiple levels of cfa cleared (including experience in finance) who would be appearing for the interview. I really do not think that would give any advantage! It all boils down to what your panel would ask you. If by some chance, ur bro can make a strong case that he wants to switch to finance (if he is not into it already) and can justify his career plans accordingly, then cfa still might look relevant, in which case I believe it's good if ur bro is thorough with L1 curricula. But I do not see any clear advantage at all.
P.S. Last year I was not even asked a single q related to work experience (bulge bracket IB) or finance. Instead they asked me some algorithm in Operations Research and Design of Experiements (Statistics topic) application in real life; obviously I flunked!

Bahut andhera dikh raha hai mujhe apne future mein, if I get a call.
life ek prob distribution follow karta hai .. wt to do!?
Op Research and Design of Experiments jaise subjects mein to murder ho jaayega. Esp the latter one, uski padhai kahaan se karunga outside college? 😞 Waise, was it an IIM L interview? It will be the only call for me this year...

@ roadkill, i think good grades act against you sometimes. I had EX in DoE and they had the transcripts in front of me! (and A in OR)

Well, I don't know whether I should be happy that I got B and C in DoE and OR respectively. Khair, I was the "median" student as far as my batch's scores go, so no panel can have any high expectations of academic gyan from me.. 7.4 for BSc, and 7.7 overall MSc ka. The only Ex's I got, were in crap like "Computer Architecture", taught by the posterchild of KGP's maths deptt (DKG). Kitna aata hoga Compu Architecture ka mujhe actually, ab ye aap bhi guess kar sakte ho. -_-
I have got 79.06 %iles in this year CAT.... My academic profile is 75% in 10th, 55% in 12th ,74% in graduation... please Name the b schools that i should focus on ...
I have mostly been silent on PG. However, looking at few of the posts here, I couldn't help giving my opinion on this.
@nits2811 You are absolutely right when you say that people don't realize when they make mistakes in a high pressure exam like CAT. That is THE only reason why people with no or very less preparation tend to surpass their expectations. I scored 98.27 percentile last year without any significant preparation as I was able to maintain my cool throughout. Final take- Well prepared people who are able to keep their cool ace the CAT. Always.
However, wrong questions do not keep the playing field level. Either all CAT sets should have wrong questions, or there shouldn't be any wrong questions at all. But then, I'm hopeful that after the bashing that the CAT authorities have got this year, there won't be any wrong questions next year.
@RoadKill Your score is a clear testimony to the fact that accuracy works wonders. I knew this throughout, but sadly on the D-Day I lost my cool in the VA/LR section and paid the price. Hats off to the way you managed yourself on the D-Day!
@bhargav.nitc Buddy, I was really disheartened after reading your CAT experience. But, I would not say that this exam is unfair. It has been proven that Item Response Theory (IRT), which is used by CAT, is a much more effective method to identify the top performing candidates than Classical Test Theory (Used by all other exams in India). It is very clear that if you get a difficult question correct, you get rewarded suitably, and if you get it wrong you get penalized accordingly. That is why accuracy is the only saving grace. The only problem with CAT is that they should disclose this to the public. It will save them from a lot of bad mouthing and the candidates will know how exactly they are getting their percentiles. Don't worry, if you believe you're good, you'll nail it sooner or later. Just don't lose the faith!
PS: I got screwed up as well (Sec 1: 99.78 Sec 2: 66.66- no calls obviously), but I strongly believe in the system, as only believing in it keeps you going!
