Guys, the tf mocks have started, with the free icat00 already open. Guys plz do post ur tf scores here.
post ur sectional scores, percentiles, etc so that we can compare our performnces.

Since this is one single thread dedicated for all tf mocks, I would request guys to plz post in the following manner

ICAT NUMBER:-

SEC I (correct) (wrong) (score)

SEC II( correct) (wrong) (score)

OVERALL(correct) (wrong) (score)

Analysis
SEC I - mention the expected cut-off according to you, difficulty level, etc

SEC II - same as above.

OVERALL - same as above.

First mock after CAT 11...so very rusty indeed...
QA 44
VA 41
OA 85
cld only attempt arnd 40 odd ques...was a very gud lvl mock...way above wat i had in CAT 11...VA was more or less same as dat of CAT..LR was way too high...QA nd DI were also way too high in comparison to CAT...
i thnk 90-95 shld b a very gud score...nd cutoff shldnt b more den 75-80...wid sectionals hovering arnd 35-40 in both the sectns...

SEC I 11C 3W=30

SEC II 17C 6W=45

TOTAL 28C 9W=75

Analysis:- SEC I was way above cat level. All the Di sets were tough. QA had very few sitters. hardly 2. Any score above 35 is good according to me. ideally cut off shuld be
SEC II was easier though, 4RC's made life difficult. could have scored 10 marks more here. cut off should be around 40. The lR sets comprising of 1 to 2 questions max was surprising.

I think overall cut off should be around 80. any score above 90 is very good according to me.
let the others have a say..

SEC 1(QA/DI): 12c 0w=36...wasn't expecting 100% accuracy though...attempts were very low due to difficult di sets and also there were hardly any sitters in maths..

SEC 2(VA/LR): 11c 12 w=21 got screwed in this section..needed a high score in this section but accuracy was not on my side..

0A 57 :banghead:
Looking forward to the next mocks....

I request everyone to please post your scores and experience of icat00...as it will be very useful for all of us and also to u..tf has said that the sectional and overall percentiles will be available after 10th april..so as of now u can just post your scores and your analysis of the paper....:)

My score:
Section 1: 27/90 (10 C, 3 W)
Section 2: 48/90 (18 C, 6 W)
Overall : 75/180

Section 1: 27/90 (10 C, 3 W)
Section 2: 48/90 (28 C, 9 W)
Overall : 75/180

@Kanix ?? Dude, how did u manage 28 Correct and 9 wrong with just 30 questions to attempt in Sec 2 ? ...i know it must be a mere typo, only pointing out coz i want to know everybodys score. Let's bell this time's CAT ...

First of all I am not "dude", I am a dudette...
Also i accept my error (I am a human!), though its not a typing mistake. In a hurry I read the "total" correct and wrong questions, instead of the questions for Section 2...
Now that I have edited my post I request you to remove your groan
All the best for CAT "dude" 😃

Qa/di : 47/90 (16c,1w)
va/lr : 43/90 (17c,8w)

oa:90/180 (33c,9w)

@nithisraj-good score bro, expect a 95+%ile...

P:S how many of u guys have enrolled for tf mocks?

QA 46 ( 16 C 2 W) there is a glitch in 1 question..should have been 50
VA 41 ( 16 C 7 W)

OA 87 ( 32 C 9 W)

Percentiles to be given on 10th april...any opinion about the score...however after analysing, i feel i should have scored more than 100 in this paper, made unforgivable mistakes in VA...and QA attempts to be increased

I guess its a score which should fetch around 95%ile. depends on the no of test taker though

P:S:- looking at scores here I think I have messed up qa big time. Bdw have u enrolled for tf mcks? or just took the free one?

I have enrolled for the tf mocks....their analysis is awesome...though here percentile doesnt matter much as the number of test takers is much much less....but still time and cl mocks are always there for percentiles,...

seems like have a large ground to cover.

QA ; 32 ( 12C, 4W)
VA : 40 ( 15C, 5W)

OA: 72 ( 27C, 9 W)

Any advice is welcomed.

by the way, have subscribed for the full test series.

@Ashu89

It's great to see your enthusiasm which is a prerequisite to bell the CAT.
What you have written is correct: taking a lot of mocks helps you to work steadily. But there is always a caveat of being burned out. At the end of the leg of your preparation number of mocks per week is bound to shoot up hence more pressure to build up. So keep on taking as many mocks as you want with a point in mind you are improving gradually one after another and enjoying taking each of them.

Finally it boils down to your final outcome. Everything else cease to matter.
Put fight, put crack!

@allan
Dude, i've enrolled for TF Test series.
Also i'm going to join TIME, CL, and IMS test series.

And it's a very good thing Allan that you started this thread.
And are actively tracking who's enrolled in the test series.

I would also like to know the prepn strategies of you puys.

I begin by sharing my strategy, and request you all to please share yours too.

My strategy :
I am targettng 100 Mocks this time around.

The reason for it comes from two learning and obvious conclusion pointed to by their union.

#1)
The #1 reason behind my inspiration is my research of past 100%ilers. Almost all of them have taken close to 100 Mocks.
Also this years 100%iler "Doc " said something along the lines that he used to take 100 odd Mocks while seriously preparing for CAT. This time as he had joined another B-school, he couldn't take as many.

(last time i managed to take two mocks, got 97+ %ile in both, and had convinced myself that I'm going to ace the CAT...thinking that the actual paper would come out easier, and that actual cat would have loads of time-passer-types, thus increasing the base, and improving my relative %ile .... little had i factored in slot dependency and little did i bother with rationalization rationale of the IIMs :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:)

#2)
Knowledge gained by reading THE OUTLIERS - Malcolm Gladwell.
The book is story of success. And Gladwell does a fantastic job of carrying out painstaking research work, which proves beyond shadow of doubt what exactly goes into making of a success!

I highly recommend this book for every CAT aspirant.
Infact, Santosh ( The English guy from Byju's ) had given us a list of 20 odd
must read books before going to a B school. This is one among them.

And please do not expect me to condense the entire book in a simple one liner here and share it with you guys. If it was possible i would have done it.
But any such attempt to condense the book and present it to you would be futile exercise, wasting your time and mine. As i cannot say all that needs to be said in fewer words that Malcolm Gladwell himself !!! :P

Finally, since i've taken coaching previously ( first TIME in Bangalore, then Byju in chennai - Byju was a big value addition. TIME - Only benefit derived was feeling like a CAT aspirant ), i won't be joining any coaching institue this time around. This season is going to be all MOCKs.

so here ends my marathon post.
Hope it inspires you ( the size of the post atleast, if not the content , to share your strategies too.

Also any suggestions to refine my strategy are welcomed.

Thanks and Cheers !

I have no right to comment on ur strategy but a word of caution...taking 100 mocks doesnt gurantee u a 100 %ile...for some it works nd for some it doesnt...gettin inspired from sum1 is gudd...but getting over inspired by sum1 can b fatal...and can back stab u...nd plus takin 100 mocks wld mentally drain as it wont b possible for u to analyse each nd every mock wid the same intensity...plus when u approach CAT if u r mentally drained den it wld automatically affect ur result...its gud u r going wid the full monty but jus revise ur strategy a lil...CAT is no more a high lvl xam...jus a normal basic aptitude test which even a novice can crack provided the slot etc etc etc fundas...so my advise js chk ur strategy nd den go ahead...

i am talking about the quadratic question p+q+r...i clicked to correct option, but its showing -1 instead of +3...so should have been 91 😞
