@ank_mission_IIM thank u. i appreciate

My first attempt too. Is it even possible to clear Civil Services without coaching? I haven't enrolled anywhere and I don't think I'll be able to. Are all of you guys enrolled somewhere?

Earlier Post:

Hi All,
Myself Vishal, working as a Soft Engg in one of the leading MNC in Bangalore, frm last 2 years nd having salary of 4.2 Lpa.
I tried to prepare IAS while working but couldnt be consistent.
I have 3 attempts left 2013, 14, 15.(in short, I have only 2-3 years to do all such kinds of exercise ! )
1.Will it be a gud option to switch towards ssc-cgl govt job , in a hope to get time for preparation, as I am not in favor of sitting idle without any job for the preparation..?
- wouldn't that be a risk , as I don know how much they pay , nd wht will be the future scope.
2.And after switching , in worst case if I have not cleared IAS, can I come back for MBA after clearing CAT/GMAT (will the profile be affected by such career related variations ?)
(I have currently appeared for the ssc CGL -12 nd hoping to clear the first round , next round will going to be held in Sept- 12, then interview in Oct- Nov)

Please post some useful comments/suggestions..
Many many thanks in advance .

Now :

Once again ...as per my plans I made it to SSC , but not tht much gud post ..in fact the last one - Tax Assistant
Now in a situation to think & decide .But still doubtful for my wud be Tax Assistant's job profile compared to my present job & scopes
the salary I hv heard 20 K approx ..and don knw bout other source of sm monetary benefits(to be practical)

Same dilemma here.. Have a non-intw post at hand but not too sure if I'll be joining.
Working in IT for over an year now but have no aspirations of continuing with it..
Despite of knowing that IT was the reason for the huge downfall leading to a non-intw post, not too sure If I should quit.
Targeting 2013.
I cant even target for 2013 , age will be crossing limit
Should give your best shot this time around, All the Best!
@sgchad

Hi!
I am not coaching myself. Like you, I am preparing for Civils on my own.

The idea is to get down at it and start working. Everything else follows...

What about Optionals? Which subject are you guys choosing? What is the criteria used by you to select them? Interest? Ease of preparation? Easier scoring?

I wish to choose Pol Science as my first optional. Second one would be Geography or History. I don't know if studying two of these subjects together would be advisable or not. I've chosen them purely out of interest.

Last year I have bought the GS manual from " Unique "...but now I looking in some websites that people are referring TMH manual ..whts the difference between these two ..
Is it larger enough to buy another ..i.e. that of TMH worth Rs 1000 ..approx ..
Plz have some view .

Hi Frnds,

I am also planning to appear for 2013. Truly have no info abt IAS. But would luv to learn from your expereinces. Please suggest, where to start.
