Hey Basheerunnisa,
If you are looking for solid international MBA programs that have deadlines as late as April or May you're looking at applying during their Round 3 deadlines. Round 3 is typically the hardest time to apply due to limited seats available and high competition for those seats. Is there a reason why you are thinking of applying so late?
Hey there,
So certainly with a higher than 700 GMAT score you are certainly within the range for McCombs. However, I want you to think beyond just the score here.
First, the time to apply is critical. You might think that attaining your target score may take some time, but applying late in the game like March and April can harm your chances of getting into the programs of your choice. Consider the 80/20 rule when preparing, where you aren't trying to perfect yourself, but instead you are trying to get the best bang for the buck here.
Second, think about why you want to get an MBA and what leadership/impact experiences you bring to the table. What have you done that indicates you can be a great leader after B-School? Have you managed teams? Have you made a big difference in the workplace or in your extracurricular activities? The reason I ask you to consider this is, as you may have already read throughout this forum, a background in IT isn't enough to get into a top school. In fact it can make it harder since you're competing against so many other bright Indian IT candidates that are top scorers.
So my suggestion is to get your GMAT stuff done earlier if you can so you can apply in Round 1 or 2. Don't delay, bud 😃
