Hi All,

Thought of starting a thread for all candidates who have applied for Strathclyde MBA 2012 - 2013.

I have applied to its Full Time MBA program and to my surprise got an offer mail from the admission co-ordinator Angela Innes within two days and that too without any interview !!! This has really surprised me and now I am a bit skeptic abt it ... is there anyone who has the same experience regarding Strathclyde ?

I have applied back in October and got a offer in November. I am pretty sure I'll be joining the course. Have heard great things about this institute.

Anyone else so far?

Ting it !!!!!

Hi everyone !

Got an offer from StrathClyde full time MBA within 5 days of applying and without interview. Am a bit apprehensive about joining due to the degrading ranking 😞 . Anybody here can throw some light ? would be great if some current students could contribute to this thread.

Hi Yukki,
Even I had got an offer without interview ...but later when I actually got the online offer letter ...there was a condition of 'Successful Interview' ...so i think you will be interviewed ...!! But yes, even I am a bit skeptic about the rankings ...as it is going down every year ...!!
Current students ...please contribute to this thread so that we can get a clear picture about this school !!

Thanks ani.amb ! I'll be looking into the online offer tonight.
Hey what about you ? already had the interview ? Do keep us posted.

I am trying to get in touch with some current students, so far talked to some friends who have knowledge about the univ, they are pretty positive about the course. More research will give a better idea.

@IdiotIIM, thanks for the warnings man! I hope the market changes, but am being optimistic at this point ! 😃

Hi ani.amb, congrats for your offer! could you please share your profile? I am also planning to apply to Strathclyde.

Hi Khilkhil

My profile looks like : Application Lead for CRM team for a telecom client, 4.5 yrs of wrk experience, IT professional, more than 2.5 yrs of international exp ...currently based in Stockholm ...GMAT 620 :'( !!!

Hi Yukki,

Yea, I had the interview ...it was good ..and even got the final offer letter ....Any more information that you have got regarding the school ?

Hi an.amba,

Thanks a lot! are you in touch with any student of Strathclyde about placements etc? Do you have any idea how the placement scenario is like? Also could you please help me with my application? Would be great if you could upload/email me sample essays. Finally how are you planning to fund your studies?

Congrats ani.amb !!!!!

I talked to a few alums and got a mixed response, the course is good and is definitely a value add. However, the job scenario is tough but depends more on the individual.

I have my interview lined up for early next week, it would be great if you could give me some pointers to crack it 😃

Thanks in advance !

Hi Yukki,

The interview would be a normal conversation ..no stress questions ...they would mainly ask about ur work experience, ur motivation, leadership n managerial exp if any, ability to study with people coming from different sectors, etc etc ...there is also the list of FAQ's tht Strathclyde has published on thr website ...u can check those as well ..same questions would be asked during the interview as well ... !!!

Ting it !!!!

Hi all. I too have recieved the conditional offer with a condition of successful interview.
Has anyone already accepted the offer?

Hi there
Admissions Office for the Strathclyde MBA here - Just to confirm that generally no Conditional offers are made for the Strathclyde MBA without interview for this coming intake 2012.
However, there may be the odd occasion (literally a handful of candidates from the few hundred offers we make from the several hundred applications we receive) where someone looks to have particularly strong experience and academic background whom we feel may not necessarily require a formal interview. These candidates are however welcome to discuss the programme with us or the Course Director in more detail.
If anyone holding an offer has any further questions, please do feel free to contact us at [email protected]

Hi there!

So .. I am a full time MBA student currently at Strathclyde Business School. I read earlier today a negative posting in regards to the MBA. And as I am sure many of you will feel, when you are loyal to something, you feel the need to answer it correctly.

So I am here hoping to open up a channel of communication between myself and prospective MBA students who are interested in joining and would like to know a 'real' student perspective rather than a glossy brochure/website.

I personally chose Strath over say Edinburgh and a number of other schools because of the focus on Strategy. In my own personal experience, strategy is a skill that every successful entrepreneur or manager needs.

Haven joined the school and spent 6 months learning I can pass on my experience so far:

  1. Its tough, its very tough. I believe most students are working an 80-100 hour work week currently. I would personally define tough, not as effort required, but as intellectually challenging.
  2. There is a broad mix of students, with the largest group coming from India.
  3. Some subjects I know well due to my previous work experience, others are brand new to me and I find incredibly difficult. However we have strong class spirit and help each other.
  4. There are areas where the business school needs to improve and evolve, but I think that is an issue most businesses and schools deal with.
  5. Glasgow is a fun city. Its cheap by comparison to Southern English cities and nicer than most of the Northern Cities. I am British/Scottish, so potentially biased also :-)
  6. The weather is British weather, anyone expecting a 'holiday' in the UK shouldn't be apply to do an MBA anywhere! If you come to Scotland, bring warm clothes and an umbrella. Having said that torrential storms, snow, hail, provide quite a bit of fun and enjoyment.
  7. The university listens. I am surprised to the extent to which the university listens to the MBA students questions and concerns. Any of you guys joining next year, will most likely see changes as a result of implementations we have asked the school to do.
  8. Trying to think of others ... if you have questions ... email me.

So, if you guys want to know more, please feel free to mail me or get in contact.
