SSC CGL T3 - Details :
Pattern - We all know that there will be 2 questions, 1 essay and 1 letter; letter could be formal or informal. However in official notification you will find Precis writing as well (wasn’t asked last year)
Material – Eng Newspaper, current affairs – last 1 year (only major events), Govt schemes, social and political issues, any random topic related to day to day activity. Last year Earthquake was the topic so you should be able to write on any random topic. Prepare yourself for any such topic.
Format – This is very important, refer any book or website for this, it carries marks for each step and correct format gives a good impression so this should be the first step of your preparation. If possible I’ll share the formats as well.
Word Limit – Again this is the most disputed topic for T3, someone will ask you to stick to the given word limit while someone will say that nothing will happen if you exceed the limit. My take – if your content is good and you are short of words then exceeding 30-40 words in essay and 20-25 in letter will not go against you, but you should be cautious that if your content is not good then don’t write rubbish by exceeding word limit unnecessarily
Content – before writing anything try to make a habit of making short notes of key points and then elaborate it. This will help you in writing everything that comes to your mind. Sometimes we remember something in the middle and try to put that thought at a place where it is not needed, it will surely go against you.
Time Management – Time will not be an issue if you have good writing practice. You will get sufficient time for essay and letter; you can give 35 min for essay and 25 for letter. This suits most of the students.
Tips – The first thing is to carry a letter pad or writing pad, whatever you call it. It’s very important. T3 is conducted in Govt schools and the condition of those benches is very bad. You can’t write properly. Request the invigilator, cry do whatever you have to do but take that letter pad with you, you won’t regret it. Second thing is to fill the details carefully; the first page of answer sheet is very messy, full of written stuff so you won’t find the blank spaces where you have to fill your Name, Roll No, Medium etc. So be careful.
There are a lot of things to mention but I can’t do it in single post.
