Silicon valley is USA is a hub of startups where entrepreneurs come with different ideas to bulit products that helps in solving problems related to various sectors of economy. Similar has been a trend seen in India from last 10-15 years where a large number of startups have come up some of them have established themselves as big companies exampes being Flipkart,Ola,Zomato,Paytm.
To give this system a further push the goverment of India launched a startup India mission in 2016 under ministry of industry and commerce. As per goverment defination a startup is defined as a company less than 7 years old and having annual turnover less than 25 crore.
The startup system has given a big bosst to the Indian economy creating lakhs of job for the youth .Apart from this it has bought in new technologies to solve various day to day issue that a common citizen of India faces OLA being one of the best example.
The goverment of India has also extended various benefits to startups such as tax emeption for first 3 years. Secondly craeting a pool of 10000 crore for giving to best startup ideas. Thirdly giving loans at concessional prices under Mudra yojana to weaker sections of society. Fouthly Atal innovation labs have been opened in schools so that studens holistic development can take place and he/she can come up with new ideas. Goverment also tied up with IIT/NIT/IIMS to create startup hubs in these colleges.
But still there are some challenges such as proper allocation of fund is not being done under Mudra yojana. Red tapism is still there during starting of startups and closing them . 10000 crore pool money is still not utilised. Income tax notices to startups on smallest mistakes also creates a demotivation.
Though this mission has been doing good but proper monitoring and implementation can yoeld much better results.
