The post selection scenario in the SSC CGLE is purely a reflection of the herd mentality that the Indian masses have inherently possessed. I am being reserved when I say that at least 75% of the candidates get in the job without any prior personality-evaluation or self-introspection. Most of the candidates have a picture-perfect scenery embossed in their minds regarding the so-called cushy jobs that the CGLE presents. Almost an equal number of the candidates have a starkly contrasting viewpoint on the other jobs. I have seen very few candidates really putting in their personalities in the picture and then deciding for themselves rather than acting on the hearsay.
I have seen candidates dissenting over a profile as prestigious as an AAO due to seniors/friends who did not choose their jobs according to their personalities but according to the pay-check and other irrelevant things. The discontent and the dissatisfaction which has stemmed from a choice that was made on misinformed grounds and misplaced priorities. Most are complacent while joining since they have an exit-gate ready in the form of the next edition of the CGLE. This very exit gate is an illusion which keeps them in the loop and forever in the clutches of wishful thinking. All it requires is a momentary step-back and a look into the deeper self for the choice in absence of any external influence to find the solace of mind, at least regarding the job.
Factors which drive the common candidate with a myopic viewpoint:
1) UTM, which is the most malicious one. It inflicts moral and mental damage on not only the person but also on the family. The charm fades away really quick and what remains is an unrelenting pursuit to somehow get back to the un-adultered morality and peace of mind.
2) Comfort, this is also an illusion as the person gets habitual of the current state and seeks comfort somewhere else.
3) Salary. No money is ever going to be enough, if you are into CGLE for money then you are barking up the wrong tree.
4) Respect. Same as point number 3.
5) Power.
Factors that the candidates should be driven by:
1) Personal priorities.
2) Family.
3) Peace of mind.
There are people who run crazily after ITI for power and don’t even consider CBI, AEO and others. People who choose posts on somebody else’s misinformed choices.
If we start recognising the real values that matter to us and choose according to them then we will surely see a surge in satisfaction and a fall in the candidates reappearing for other posts while wasting their youths.
