Shalimar Bagh was built by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir for his wife Noor Jahan in 1619. Today it is a popular tourist spot of Srinagar. Shalimar in Sanskrit means “abode or home of love”. Linked to the scenic Dal lake, Shalimar Bagh lives up to its name. Visitors fall in love with the natural beauty of the surroundings. It is said that Emperor Jahangir and his wife loved Kashmir so much that they used to make Srinagar the capital every summer.
