seeing pg it always feels that atleast 500 people will get beyond 500 out of 600 ,last year also it felt the same,yet last year even with easier paper,not many were above 500 mark out of 600 :) so there is a difference between perceptions and reality.However ,still dont expect the marks of top 4-5 IP posts to fall much from last year,particularly after a remote access group has actually been nabbed by Delhi police recently.People who are using this method ,would only target top IP posts.Hence cutoff for top 4-5 may not see a decrease,and dont get surprised if it doesnt. but keeping the other IP posts from lower end or NON ip in mind,cutoffs should come down by 15-20.Particularly for excise,it might even go down by 25-30 ,keeping CPT in mind,and the fact that many excise inspectors of last year have again appeared this year and wont take up this post again.
The cutoffs could have been regularised to some extent,if ssc had taken the decision to atleast make the t1 qualifying,for already selected candidates.I am not even speaking of normalisation,just a qualifying t1 would have gone a long way in ensuring some balance.Because to be fair,the t1 is making a hell lot of difference,even in 2016 it was the same.There were random variations in standards in 2016 also,and server issues ,like slow computers,or alteration of responses. The same things happened in t1 of 2017.Some are appearing with 135 and some with 175 in their pockets.40 marks gap is a very high lead.But ssc has its own ways ,and DOPT doesnt seem to be much interested in interfering with ssc as of now.ย
