ok , Listen up , I am a SC , and to be true when i put myslef in the shoes of a UR candidate , even i feel bad seeing "some" people from "us" getting selctd via low marks as compared to the UR marks,
But , just read on to know why i still "strongly" argue in favour of this constitutional 'right' of ours giving us a 'positive discrimination'.
My roomate a Brahmin , A while ago he had been dressing up for a party , his hair looked a bit hither-tither and just to make sure that he looked presntable , askd me , "Abey Dekhio jara kahin Ch*m*r to nahi lag ra hun ?"
Now , my upper caste friends , just for a moment put yourself in my position and think as to What do you infer from the above quoted question ?
Will you feel happy ? Delighted ? after hearing that shit ?
Thats question from him was just a minisicule tip of that humongous discriminatory ice berg that is present deep , deep , very deep inside him.
- Now those against reservation consider that , if one day , this same guy happens to be a chairman of an interview/selection board or an "appointing authority " , Do you think he will select/offer employement to an euqally or even a more qualified SC candidate ? and allow them to sit with them as equals ? Considering the fact he didnt even wanted to look like one in the first place?
In such cases even if the highest scorer in writtn happens to be a SC , and if the chairman or concerned authority hapens to be like my brahmin roomate , i am damn sure the SC candidate will NEVER EVER make it to the final list .
Accept it !
I also understand that NOT ALL Upper castes discriminate , but again , What if a discriminater happens to hold a position as importatnt as such , will any SC guys make it ? Answer = NO
Hence , no matter what you guys debate upon , reservations , as "positive" discrimination were the need of the hour 60-70 years back and "unfortunately" continue to be so even today , and hence, though i feel bad but I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT feel "ashamed" when i or my brothers make it to select list with even zero marks , i hope you now understood why ?
Agar phir bhi aap comments me gaali dete hain caste wali or you question our so called "inherited intellect" , you again bring up a strong case for this constitutional "right" of ours to continue.
So , what's the solution ?
In my opinion , the caste based reservations have done pretty much more harm than the achieved good so far , when i was in my ICSE school , till the age of 17 , i.e High school , i didnt knew what my caste was , what being an SC meant etc ....only when i took admision in a Govt run CBSE school [CBSE syllabus matches that of JEE/AIEEE, hence] that i was asked to specify my caste on a form !
People in my ICSE class never ever had asked my caste and they never bothered to do so , but here my classmates openly discriminated against me and openly called me a Ch*m*r , and , oh man ! How insulted i did feel , without me doing no wrongdoings !
Conclusion : Assuming an ideal world , People's mindset will change with time , i am sure , for that , we need to abolish the caste based reservations slowly , and at the same time make anti caste bias laws like SC ST Atrocities Act stronger , reason being , if the reservations are quashed , then one should not face the caste abuses and discrimination , and if still someone does than punish him with stronger laws .
But , you know what the problem is ?
Rulers in a democracy need votes and votes can only come by differntiating people along divisive lines , and lo , this country is full of many , an election candidate just needs to pick one !
