Never rely ONLY on previous year papers for any competitive exam. Previous year questions provide you an idea of what kind of questions can be asked. So, take a reference and solve them.
So, Here is how can you proceed (You may agree or disagree :))
- Have a standard book for preparation. For maths , Sarvesh Verma Quantum CAT or Arun Sharma CAT is good.
- Start from concept building and formulas. This is how I did. I started a chapter by writing down important concepts and formulas. I tried to remember the formulas. Then I solved the examples. Then started with easiest basic questions and moved on to difficult ones. I marked the ones which I found difficult.
- Then after some days , I used to revisit and solved those marked questions again.

- Similarly I used to complete the whole syllabus in Maths. No shortcut.
- One thing I did was recording all the progress. It was like data analysis of what I had been doing. Helped me in finding my weak areas.
- Similarly for English. I had SP Bakshi. Did all of it thoroughly. I think this book has improved my English skills in general. I took help from Internet time to time.
- Newspapers are indispensable resource.
- I did most of the GK from NCERTs ad made notes. Revised them and I had a habit of reading things from wikipedia in free time. So it helped me a lot.
So, Preparation you require should be a mix of both conventional and unconventional methods.
Take some interest in preparation. In general, this preparation is making you better with every passing day.
Just be simple and think “I need this job no matter what” and put your best foot forward .
