Kindly Evaluate: DEMONETIZATION
In a concerted drive against corruption, black money, money laundering and terrorism, the Prime Minister announced the decision that currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 would cease to be a legal tender from the midnight of 8th nov 2016. This is what was called the ‘Demonetization’. In a single push, 86 percent of the total value of banknotes in circulation was demonetized. This step came both as a surprise and shock.
The fact that gave the common man solace was the step would unearth the black money, fight fake currency and curb terror financing. People were glad that some drastic and visible action had been taken to put an end to these activities.
But demonetization came with its own sets of woes. There was an utter chaos everywhere. Many people were left with no cash in hand even to purchase daily perishables like food and milk. How was fees to be paid, salaries to be given etc became daily concerns for common man. Due to cash crunch, large queues outside banks and atms became a common sight, affecting daily activities of common public.
But now it can be concluded that demonetization was a massive exercise undertaken with good intentions but gross mismanagement. Fortunately, the period of pain and inconvenience is getting over. The long term impact on economy is yet to be seen, but one can be hopeful that this comes out to be a historic move towards a transparent and flourishing national economy.

Puys your reviews on Make in India .
PM Modi launched the Make in India initiative on September 25th,2014 with an aim to make India a global manufacturing hub by encouraging both domestic and multinational companies to manufacture products within the country.Led by the Department of industrial policy and promotion, it aims to increase the GDP of manufacturing sector from current 16% to 25% by the year 2025. It targets 25 sectors of the economy ranging from automobiles to IT.
The initiative is built on 4 major pillars namely New processes, which aims at introducing reforms for getting FDI's, New Infrastructure, which intends to develop smart cities with high-speed communication and New Sectors where the government allowed 100% FDI in Railways, Defence and pharmaceutical sectors as well as New mindset, which brings a paradigm shift in the way the government interacts with industries and acting as a partner alongside corporate sector for economic development.
This ambitious project has many benefits like creating more industries thereby increasing employment opportunities, financial status of the people and GDP of India.Besides, it will help in reducing brain drain and attract investors thereby improving the ease of doing business, strengthening rupee and increasing the brand value of Indian products internationally.
However, it also has certain challenges like effect on environment, reducing land for cultivation as India has 61% of cultivable land, neglection of agriculture and less skilled labour (12%).The focus should be on restoring trust between industry and government, not making environmental harmful products as well as developing skilled labour.
Make in India is an ambitious project and With relentless policies towards this end, it is possible to make India the powerhouse of manufacturing sector in the world.

Kindly review: CASHLESS SOCIETY
On 8th nov 2016, the govt demonetized currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000. Though the main aim of demonetization was towards curbing terror financing and eliminating black money, a major shift towards cashless economy emerged as a necessity. A cashless economy runs on credit/debit cards, electronic funds transfer or online shopping instead of cash. All transactions are done digitally by using cards, e-wallets, UPI, Internet Banking etc. The idea of cashless economy aims at curbing the black money by increasing the transparency of the flow of cash. The transactions are easily traceable, which makes this idea more appealing.
Cashless society offers the govt and public many advantages like convenience, reduced cost of printing money, decrease in crime rate, less cost per transaction for banks, transparency and easy monitoring, reduced tax evasion etc.
However there are many challenges of moving towards a cashless economy in a developing economy like India. Majority of population which is still unbanked would need long time to adapt to a cashless society. Lack of proper infrastructure, low internet penetration, and cyber security concerns are also major hindrances in move towards cashless economy.
As it is now clear that achieving a 100 percent cashless society is not possible, but one can always start from a less cash society and then move towards becoming mostly cashless. Cash will still play an important role for transactions in most remote areas and informal sector. Less circulation of cash and move towards digitalization would prove to be an effective means of curbing large parallel economy in India. With massive infrastructure, effective policies to deal with cyber security issues and large scale awareness drives, one can hope to see India a global player in digital economy.
