Hi Alok,
SPJIMR follows the same process of GI as a selection criterian for both courses. So wud suggest you to start preparing for the first round of GI to be held on 24th and 25th of Feb.

Hi Somansh ,
Can you please elaborate on the GI process ??
Is the emphasis given more on the tech. aspects or is it just general process as followed by other B-schools ??
Thanks in advance.

Hi Aishi & Vineet,
1. As far as GI process is concerned it will be a general process and no stress on ur technical skills per se. but yeah wud surely grill u on ur job related skills and engineering subjects also. Also u shud be prepared with general questions like - describe yrself, why MBA, Why PGDSM MIT, Why SPJIMR, Questions on ur work ex. How do u c urself 5 or 10 yrs down the line. Also read ET regularly, try to update urself with recent business and current affairs. Prepare urself on atleast one good business book, hobbies etc.
2. We will soon be updating the latest placement records on our website. But to give u a snapshot of our placements here are the placement stats
Total no. of participants: 54
No. of offers: 135
Maximum offer: Rs. 15L p.a.
Median Salary: Rs. 6.5L p.a.
Almost all IT biggies were there on campus like CTS, Infosys, EDS. KPMG, American Express. Roles offered depended on prior work ex and profile of the candidate. Roles offered were in the domains like Business Development, Business Analysis, Consulting, Project Management.
Hope this helps. Let me know in case of any further query.

Hi Somansh..
Two things that I'd specifically like to know :
1. Will there be a separate technical round of interview/ test or would those questions be handled in the GI also ? Since I have a call for PGDBM also and the GI process is common for both... how exactly will the decision be taken ? Do I need to give any preference ?
2. The course mentions about Track-1 and 2. How will I know I'm shortlisted for WHICH track ? I've about 7 months of work ex.
Cheers..
Last Year's Experience :
Hi buddy,
I went thru only one round so no idea of any test or what ...my interview was sweet n short and involved no grilling ....Here is my experience
We were 6 ppl for the GI.....2 were freshers and 4 were experienced with I having least amount of work ex.
Panel consisted of 2 Profs
Prof Nikhil Agarwal (NA) and Prof Garg (silent observer)
I was at the corner position so every question was first asked to me and then it was passed. so u can say I was at a disadvantageous position.
NA: Somansh describe urself in 2 min.Tell us everything about urself
Me: Started with my current work profile moved on to family background , then acads, and then elaborated on my xtra curriculars (my strength)....Told them that that I am presently acting as the Chairperson of Social Service Committee of my company.then moved on to why I wanna opt for this course.
This question was passed to every person in the group...So better be prepared for this question.Keep ur intro crisp and natural .Avoid Flowery language.
NA: Somansh what are ur views on the concept of corporate social responsibility.
Me: told them that the Corporate ppl earn loads from the market so its the responsiblity of the companies to give somthing bak to the society. talked bout how we pursue SS in our companies by collaborating with local NGOs and provide them with our IT expertise and also funds if needed.Talked bout various programmes we conduct for the needy ppl.
While I was speaking NA cuts me in between & asked another candidate that dont he think that what ever Somansh is speaking is bullshit and companies are here for earning money so that shud be the first priorty. I think the guy was not able to handle the question in a good way... always stick to the ethics and value system whatver may be the situation.
Girl next to me was grilled on her ambition to become GLobal CEO ( she wrote that in her form) and she handled it in a brilliant way...so what ever u say always have some handy info on it.
NA:If I and Prof garg meet u in Frankfurt U.K. after 10 yrs and u hand over ur business card to us then how wud it look like?
Me:Told them that I see myself as a Project Manager handling a team of IT proffessionals and providing my client end to end business and technology solutions...
A guy was asked if he wud be working as team member who wud he like to see as a manager I or the girl sitting next to me.....I think interview lasted for more than 45 min.
Lastly we were asked to if we had any questions.
I asked bout the relevance of running two different courses for MBA(systems)....
NA told that infact we r havuing 3 courses and have ppl with differnt work ex and usually have same subjects but are taught with differnt pitch.told us about profiles and salary structure offered in thses courses.I was convinced with his answer.
That was the end of my interview....
After 2 hrs I was called again and was given spot offer 3 ppl from my group were given spot offer (2 girls and I). all were having relevant IT work Ex.)
Hope this helps u...Let me know in case of any query or concern.
Hey Somansh .... i found this in one of the threads.

Hi Abhinav,
1. There wont be any separate technical round of interview/ test. However u can expect questions related to ur work Ex/College subjects. I wud have to clarify whether u wud have to face separate interview for two courses. As of now U wud be having only one interview process. Wud clarify soon on this.
2. Presently there are no separate tracks for PGDSM MIT. We wud updating our websites soon. Sorry for this inconvinience. So dont worry on this part. ATB for the GI process.
