hello Rishikesh.
I am interested in the pgpm program.
Below is my brief profile
IT Consulting (project lead, business analyst)
GMAT 660
7 years with four years of international experience in USA, Canada, UK
B.Tech (75%)
Do you think this is a competitive profile?
When is the next application deadline?
Thanks in advance.
Puys,
Do you think its wise to opt for a 1 yr option like SPJ - PGPM or a two year option after having a workex of 3 yrs ??
Thanks
Guys,
New to the post:
Thinking about doing MBA in ASIA or in EUROPE? Shorlisted some schools based on rankings.....what do you think about following profile fr SPJAIN PGP?
My Profile:
GMAT:620(4.5)
Exp:10 years( supply chain all MNCs)
International exp: 7 months in US and now 2 years in Shanghai...
Applied for:
ISB - Shortlisted for interveiw and Dinged
CEIBS -- GMAT score not enough
Cranfield -- GMAT score not enough
NUS/NTU/HKUST -- Awaiting Response
Manchester -- Shortlisted for Interview
Judge/RSM/IIM I - Will Apply
Appreciate you can comments on which schools I can be considered....
Hi ctarafdar,
You have a competitive profile. You have good chances of selection if you have decent EC and do well in the interview process. Please go ahead and apply.
Best of Luck,
Rishikesh
For 1 year, you will need 5 years exp. For less than 5 years experience it will be academically useful to go for 2 year MBA.
Regards
Rishikesh
GMAT may be a factor affecting admission, all other aspects look promising. Please go ahead and apply .. you still have time to take a second attempt on GMAT and increase your score - 700+ will make your profile very competitive for PGPM
Hi Rishi,
I was waiting for this thread to start and there, i find it. I would be having 5 yrs of exp by May 2010. I think SPJ considers the work ex for this program till Dec 2010. Presently I have applied for the 2 Yr program of SPJ. I am yet to give GMAT. No onsite exp till now. Avg acads and lots of extra curri.
I have few questions
1. By when i should need to take my GMAT?
2. Does onsite exp has an advantage over the others with no oniste work ex?
3. What is the min CAT or min GMAT score should make me eligible for the program?
4. I checked the placement link for this course, but no figures are mentioned there. All are compared with the last salary drwan. I am in one company from the last 5 yrs, so does not have a fat pay package. So is this going to hamper my final placement from SPJ? In that case, i still have time to swich the job and easily get a 40-50% hike.
Hi Rk,
I have the following details
Query : I am planning to take my gmat in April 2010 . Can I go Ahead?
Other Details
X: 58 % - damn
XII: 63 % - damn
Engineering 75.2% (BE With Distinction) - gradual ascend
Workex : 5.5 Years
loads of participation in extra curricular activities (Discovery/bournvita and all)
NGO activities for CRY/Australian Red Cross
Do you think I stand a chance for SPJain this coming year
Regards
Arvind

You do stand a chance provided you get GMAT score around 700.

1. By when i should need to take my GMAT?
It is advisable to take the GMAT by July 15th ( wait for the admission calendar to come out - generally you need to take GMAT before you submit your application. There is no code for SPJ PGPM , you will need to specify the score and produce scorecard / send soft copy to the adcom.
2. Does onsite exp has an advantage over the others with no oniste work ex?
Onsite is one of the factors , but it's not a deal breaker.
3. What is the min CAT or min GMAT score should make me eligible for the program?
There is no cutoff, but GMAT 670, CAT 95 and above should increase your chances.

Placement stats will be released soon. Do not look at this prog for short term gain .. you will learn a lot in this institute. There is too much in offering - 24 hrs seem short .. the value and learning + salary increase stands taller than just salary increase.
you can take that move ( job switch) to increase your pre joining salary .. rather a smart move. but you should be able to justify why you changed job and within a short span decided to go for MBA.. play cautious on this part..
regards
Rishikesh

For SP JAIN you can be optimistic, but never be damn sure abt the call.
Ur profile matters more than the scores from CAT or XAT

Answer : Applications will start somewhere around May-June with last date in first week of July ( As per our batch admission schedule) .. this may change as there in increased focus on 1 year course now a days.
2. What is this ALP stuff? How is it related to PGPM?
ALP = Application of Learning Program - can be translated to short ( 6 week) Internship in Industry / International Exchange program. This gives you a chance to work on a industry project and apply the learning... and hope for a PPO as well :-)

Hey thanks Rishi for that answer. But again regarding ALP, does it happen at the end of the PGPM course..as in the last 6 weeks or we need to complete it before applying in May/jun whenever the apps are out.
