Hi,
I have got an admit by mail. It says there's a 66k scholarship included...
As per the website, the fees (tuition+books+acco.) for each year comes to around 62k. So will it cost 120k for the total program. Can you please tell me the actual total cost for the program? I want to know how much I would have to shell out from my pocket.... Thanks! Also tell me your mail/phone so that we can chat... Thanks again!

This is the e-mail I got... So i'm still waiting for the official admit letter hard copy...

Congrats on the admit.. While calculating costs, I would suggest to first look at the (Tuition Costs - Scholarship) and then add living expenses. The living expenses and books costs suggested by the website is the ceiling price. Most of us, don't really spend that much. I've sent you my email. You can talk to me there regarding the other costs.

Thanks
Thanks!

You have a good GMAT and decent amount of experience so if you work hard at the application and interview, it shouldnt be too hard to get in..

How many people typically get scholarship? This post alone has two guys who got 66K $ !! :O

Is $66K scholarship a trivial amount (No offense to the ones who got it .. awesome work guys ! :))
I was going through the website as well and the tuition is roughly 43K (86 total) so the scholarship looks is more than 75% of the tuition which is a good sum. Does anyone get full scholarship?

@mehta.gaurav, do you have these statistics with you? Can you please enlighten me? Also, did you manage a scholarship and how many people (international) do you know who got scholarships and roughly how much was it?
Also, what other opportunities, apart from this particular admission scholarship, do students have of reducing the financial load?

Thanks a lot in advance!

A lot of scholarships are given to indian students. In our batch almost everyone (11/14) is on scholarship and the scholarship is in the same range as of yours.

A couple of people also get full scholarship and its called a Dean's Scholar but it is pretty hard to get.

Other than the scholarship, you can work on the campus but considering that the MBA is pretty hectic, people avoid doing it (some do work however).

Alright. Thanks! I read about the Dean's Scholarship on the SMU website. That is something we can work towards once we arrive on campus, right? Not from here, right?
So the MBA is pretty hectic? Thats a little alarming

signing out soon

Hi , please do not write loose comments. If you do not have any idea about how admissions/scholarship process works , first get the idea then comment. Do you think 2 guys , who posted here, got 75% waiver means veryone gets it and its trivial? First, 710 is a good score and calls for schoaship given evrything else is OK. second, there are hundreds many who were rejected or did not get scholarship , they did not post here , bu that does not mean that only 2 guys applied and both got 75% waiver and SMU is waiting with a bucket full of dollars waiting fo every looser to apply and take home some scholarship. I have a 750+ score and got into a top 20 program but was rejected in a top 50 program where so many ppl with 680 got full waiver. First get some knowledg then comment. Gaurav ,my suggestion/request is plz do not encourgae these kind of loose comments. ppl should do their homework first and then if they have some really insightful question then they should ask.

Dude... why are you getting so worked up? I know how the process works and I know that there are lot of rejections. I think my question is incomplete. What I mean to ask was, of the people who get selected, how many get scholarship. Is this tight now?

But I must say, I take offense at your

Why so? You say your GMAT score is 750+ (cant you just say 760/770/780/790/800?) and that you got into a top 20 school (why the secrecy with the name??)... Now who's posting loose comments??

Please don't take unnecessary potshots at people.
