I'll present my condition and I am looking for school specific information.
I scored 770 on GMAT. However, unfortunately, the breakup is a bit skewed
Q - 49 (90 percentile)
V - 47 (99 percentile).
While my overall score looks good (I won't talk about the missed opportunity of a perfect score ), I am worried about the 90 percentile. Will it present a hurdle for me, especially in quant-heavy schools like Sloan ? How would it impact my application in other schools on my list ? Obviously, taking GMAT again after 770 might seem like incorrect prioritization to adcoms (is it ? I am sure of 780-790 and 800 is definitely within reach).
Should I explain in my application that I could easily have got a 51 on Quant ? Or again, would that look like I am focussing on the wrong things ? Should I just let it go ?
I am aiming for the stars as far as my school selection is concerned.
Harvard
Stanford
Wharton
Kellog
Sloan
Haas
Tuck
Columbia.
Any bschool gurus ?
Confused as always

I know why you posted this.
Let me tell you one thing, yes your scores are skewed and will affect your profile. I would strongly recommend retaking the GMAT and get 80% equal on both sections.
Let god be with you

What ?? Just a 770 ?? That too with a horrendous 49 in Quant ? A mere 90th percentile ????
I would seriously advice you to take the GMAT again - until you hit the mark of 800. Nothing less than a 51 in both the sections will suffice
Okay, on a more serious note. Confused_Soul, the only thing I got to know about you from your post is that your nick is apt for you. Skewed scores means when you score below the 75th percentile in any of the section, and score a 99th types in the other.
You don't need to worry. Chill
Arun
I searched for a couple of other posts/threads by you. Interesting !!

You seem to be book-smart and street-dumb. Quite the opposite of moi.

LOL ! Well said Arun.
@Confused Soul.... Awesome score. Congratulations for the same .....
but dude .....get a life
Dude, you DEFINITELY need to retake and focus on a minimum of 790 if yer to even have a prayer of getting into Sloan, Haas, blah blah. I suggest you get that plastic out and book a new date. Honest.
I am not sure why you started this thread .Are you really worried you didnt score 800 ?

Seemed like this puppy needed some attention and press coverage. Reading all the earlier post appears like one pompous ,remaining IITian earning 6 figures per month
LOL
Awwww, c'mon! That's being very judgemental and really rude! I think we should give him/her the benefit of the doubt. Let's assume 5 figures per month.
Seems my post attracted a lot of replies, but none I was looking for.
It also proves that there is value in being concise and specific. I was probably too round-about in my previous post and it distracted from my main question (I'll give the benefit of doubt to my friend Masala Dosa 😃 )
So, let me rephrase my question so that my purpose becomes clear.
Here is what inspired my post:
Full-time MBA Program : Haas School
Please look carefully at the following lines :
"We are especially interested in your performance on the quantitative section as an indication of your mathematics proficiency.".
I haven't looked in great detail at other sites, but I don't see any reason why Haas is special, so I assume this is the case with most top B-Schools.
Now I am worried that even though my overall score is pretty high, 90% in Quant is actually low in the Indian/Male/IT pool to which I belong.
So, should I explain it in my application somewhere ? Or should I trust that Haas and others will trust my quant abilities based on my engineering degree ?
The answer might be school specific (my gut feel for example says MIT Sloan would be quant. biased as well), so I also mentioned the schools I may be interested in.
I am looking for help and advice on my specific question and not a dicussion on my possible motivation of the post. My only intention is to be able to create the best app I can and so I am not ignoring the smallest detail.
PS - Maybe I can even delete the old post and just have this new one, with a more specific line of questioning if that helps....Forum Admins ?
But are you not an IITian with 9.0+ GPA , 770GMAT and working in a small firm but with very high level of analytical approach being used daily?
I guess the above stats will satisfy Haas.
SAVE TREES.. DONT USE PAPER WHEN NOT NEEDED

To reply concisely, No. Yes.

Hey don't bother explaining the score to the adcomm. They won't think twice about the 49 in quant.
