@karl Explain ?
Equating the amount at the end of 3 year,
12820 = x ( (1.1)^2+2*(1.1) +3) =6.41 x. Hence x =2000.
@MI8888 Hence hi to hai bhai.. due 3 years hence ka matlab hi wohi hai.. ki 3 saal baad.. mujhe tum 12820 dena... bas !

That's okay but why are we taking CI here ? Why not SI

I have an explanation if the answer is 2000.

SI le k koi option nai match kar raha..'none of these' bhi nahi hai..isliye CI le lo!

Sorry, par yeh logical nahi:|

2000 and 1800 nai ho sakta..

coz if 1st instalment 1800, second has to 3600 and third has to be 5400..less than principal

1st yr-2000 second yr-4000 3rd yr 6000.total 12000.less than principal

FINAL SOLUTION (JANHIT ME JAARI)

Total Amount to be given after three years = 12820 Rs
Here, the question says starting first year -> THIS WAS MY ORIGINAL DOUBT, but it seems logo ne kuch aur hi kar diya ..

Case 1: Starting 1st year means I start paying now

x*(1.1)^3 + (2x)*(1.1)^2 + (3x)*(1.1) = 12820

-> x*[7.051] = 12820 => x = 1818.2 Rs.. = 1800 approx...

Case 2: Starting 1st year means I start paying after one year

x*(1.1)^2 + (2x)*(1.1) + (3x) = 12820

-> x*[6.41] = 12820 => x = 2000 Rs

Original source had : starting after 1st year

I am sorry that itna confusion create hogaya yahan :splat:

I give it to you, on the point that it is not mentioned CI explicitly, a mistake on whoever made that question, it should be. One pointer why I used CI, is that all EMI's are calculated based on CI, rather than SI.
@Ibanez --
The first installment is 1/2 the second installment and the second installment is 2/3 of the third installment. Jab installments hi alag honge toh interest same kahan se aayeaga?? SI nahi ho sakta

that was a mock!!
@saniyamakhijani Interest har saal ka same kyu karna hai ? 😐

Ho hi nahi sakta voh isiliye toh.. SI tab use karoge jab same hi ho... else nahi!
Some amount was lent on 6% per annum simple interest. After one year, Rs.6800 is repaid and the rest of the amount is repaid at 5% per annum. If the second year's interest is 11/20 of the first year's interest, find what amount of money was lent out.

a) 17000
b) 16800
c) 16500
d) 17500
e) None of these

I think ho bhi sakta hai.. nahi bhi ho sakta hai.. Mujhe to @aimingCAT12 ka SI reject karne ka logic better laga ! 😐
